Do you think it’s time for Dovetail to record some new wind sounds that you hear in the cab. They’ve been using the same recording since 2018. It could really use a tune up, maybe have a few different sounds instead of one constant whoosh noise that sounds like an angry flock of birds.
They could do with some new internal rain sounds too, in some trains they’re ok but in most they aren’t muffled at all and the repetitive sounds get annoying very quickly and it kinda hurts my ears
In general, the game has a very bad situation in terms of sounds: starting with announcements to the station, the sounds of crowds/people on the platforms, the noise of the wind at speeds, the sound of rain/downpour/thunderstorms, the noise of a blizzard in winter (or the attenuation of sounds in a quiet snowfall), the singing of birds (even at night!). It is especially sad how nondescript the sound of trains sounds when the cars/wagons go through switches, intersections/junctions and there is no clang of wheelsets and the cars themselves at low, medium and high speeds Realistic sounds on, near and in the railway are considered more important than the quality of graphics (the realistic sound of tires at speed and the growl of engines in Forza Motorsport 2023 will not let you lie)
Something that bugs me more then anything, is the ambient sound of birds tweeting inside the cab whether you're idle or at speed... I was driving a Class 801 at 125mph and I could hear birds tweeting outside! I thought it was quite an absurd thing to have in the game... Particularly when you're train is in motion, or at high speed, you wouldn't be able to hear it.
