I'm extending the Woodhead Line. I'd like to know which bits had overhead wires. The bits left hanging are Wath, Woodhouse and the triangle near Nunnery Junction. I found pictures of Woodhouse but no wires. As Peter used to drive this I thought he'd know.
I was a Guard on this line and what is in the game is fairly correct. The east end of Rotherwood Sidings was the limit of the wires stopping about 100yds short of Woodhouse Stn At Woodburn Jn, east end of Nunnery sdgs, the line went North towards Tinsley Yard with the line from Darnall joining in at Atterclife Jn Although the wires extend to Wath station I believe they did not go much further east than the depot on the north side of the line. I presume you are looking at the older version of the route There is a newer version - Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue https://store.steampowered.com/app/...oodhead_Electric_Railway_in_Blue_Route_AddOn/ Which extends to Rotherwood Sdgs and includes the Glossop Branch and Reddish Depot Peter
This was about it - at the Guide Bridge end the wires used to go to sidings at Ashton Moss but that is not in the route.
Thanks again. I am trying to add South Yorkshire to the original 1965 Woodhead Line. Do you know where I might find details of signals and track speeds then. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2762574947
Hi Paul, I presume you mean 1955 Woodhead Line - Which sections are you trying to add? If it is Sheffield to Woodhouse then this will help http://www.lymmobservatory.net/railways/sbdiagrams/woodhead2/woodhead_ws_2.htm Peter
It is along with the new Godley that opened nearer to the main road As to why the person who did the map included both I don not know.
Thanks Peter. I was reading the date from the quickdrive markers. I've been looking at 1965 maps so it will be set then.
