A MLV and a 4TC.....of sorts (Just fancied having a bash at something different after wrecking the Editor on my PC). Should be able to get them moving with a bit of help from my invisible loco (Two different BGs will take the livery......others won't let you paint the centre doorway......so we should be able to have a pair with different liveries coupled together). Need to fathom a way to represent the battery boxes on the unit. This will be tricky as the BG and the MLV don't have the same window and door placements but, again, artistic licence will, no doubt, win through. Or it can 'pull' a normal BG (or even some vans). This pairing isn't very easy on the eye Of course in no way is this an accurate depiction of the real thing but it could stand on an out of the way siding where it wouldn't attract too much attention.
The 4TC needs a lot more work but, again, from a distance it doesn't look too bad Might need to try and get a Blue CL33 sorted.....but that might be above my pay grade !!! (Obviously the unit can be towed but I'm also hoping to set something up so that we can have an AI pushed unit too with the CL33 on the rear). A nice diversion so far
Really nice work David, beautiful detail. Oh how we wish for a repaintable 33... and a 31 and a 37/5 (TVL) and a 45...
Yes the inability to paint either the CL33 & CL31 in particular are very annoying as these two locos are used on all sorts of services. I can't see DTG doing anything to bring them back to life now sadly. Anyway I've added a few more bits & pieces to the MLV (cab side window and door / battery box covers etc) and consider it more or less finished now. Will run up a few liveries for this and will then turn to the 4TC unit.....which will require a large amount of work. (When the Mk1 Buffet comes out with the CL86 I might try to make a 4BEP unit and see if I can make a 13 or 14 car boat train). Well someone has to do the "pie in the sky" stuff.
Well I now have 2 different models with MLV liveries attached to them meaning that I can do this An MLV sandwich with two different liveries on the MLVs and a completely different BG in the middle. (Mind you it was a pain in the proverbial transferring a 850 layer livery from one model to another and then have to repaint it ) Shame about the tail lamp but if I marshall the 2 MLVs at the front of the formation then it is correctly applied to the 'normal' BG. Again, as usual, this has been placed by Scenario Editor rather than Free Roam so, once I have worked out how to get over an Editor problem, I should be able to get it to move. This is the sort of thing I'd like to replicate. Just need to get some Jaffa Cakes to help the creative juices flow
Well I'm pleased to say that they worked (Just did the colours by eye. Might need to make the Brown darker and the orange a bit brighter but not bad for a first attempt ) Now I have the 'joy' of transferring the livery across to the other model so that I can have two similar but slightly different liveries running together.
So now I have a pair of MLVs in Jaffa Cake livery (Units 68006 + 68007). Just need to add 3 blue BGs to the rear, when I've fixed my Editor, and I'll have my finished formation.
