In the El Cajon timetable: U-LACPHX5-05. Early morning run, It was the golden hour and the sky and scenery were beautiful. Fifteen minutes later this is what the sky looked like: I'm running TSW3 on Windows 10 on Parallels 18.0.1 on macOS Monterey on iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020), 3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core I7. Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB. And, no, this is not a gaming computer, but it's good enough for my occasional Trainsimming.
I have never quite understood the logic of running Windows on an Apple computer and I am going to throw it out there that it may be a source of the problem.
You're welcome But in all seriousness, the amount of Mac people here is going to be small, and the amount of Parallels people a small subset of that, so you'll likely have to wait for someone with experience of that set up for platform specific assistance Meantime, the only things that I can suggest within the Parallels environment is to make sure all Windows updates are installed (if you run the virtualised desktop), update the AMD driver, roll them back if they're the latest and so forth I forget if Mac can fudge running Linux apps, but there isn't a Linux version currently anyway Best of luck getting it sorted
Well duh! Of course that’s the problem. However, this problem is related to the dynamic weather and is something that DTG should be able to fix. DTL, are you listening (reading)?
My setup has handled TSW2 without a problem and also TSW3 w/o dynamic weather, so I’m blaming dynamic WX.
That I've read about in the forums, you're the only person who has experienced that specific graphical problem regardless of platform, so it is more likely (if everything is updated) that it is a platform specific problem Unfortunately the base platform you have is not supported by DTG (Parallels or Mac), so given my additional comments above, your best bet would be to run diags I described and raise a ticket with DTG to see if they can assist Good luck
What I am saying is that when using parallels you are adding an extra layer of software between the hardware and TSW and that it is likely that it is something for parallels to fix rather than DTG, as dynamic weather works well for everyone else.
The other point of interest that I note, you don't say how much RAM you have, but Parallels website states that the standard edition only supports 8Gb of vRAM. It also mentions nothing about whether MacOS gives Parallels direct access to the GPU RAM, or whether it has to go through the hypervisor, or even whether GPU (v) RAM is included within the 8GB limit. Given that the new clouds are rendered in 3d instead of being a 2D skybox now, and also that your screenshots shows those same clouds as looking like 2D textures, and lastly that this happened some way into the route, might point at a lack of available vRAM, whether system or GPU. As Scott says, that would be something Alludo would need to investigate, so as well as raising a DTG ticket, it is probably worthwhile raising a support request with Alludo as well
