... does nothing except making me certain, somebody in DTG is sabotaging this whole company... One step forward, two reversed at every update. Mini HUD for experienced guys? Obviously, but lets make thier gameplay even more engaging , let's do something to make them emotionally engaged... Hmmm? I know! let's make big red "they-dont-need" icon permanently pining thier eyes! (It doesnt work as intetnded on most locos, it just make you red inside)
Agreed. Sometimes it feels like they are changing the HUD just for the sake of changing it. Still can't wrap my head around the weird candy cane distance indicatod thing either.
Yeah. I would have thunk after the feedback to the minimal HUD, DTG understood to offer customisability, but somehow someone thought adding a big red box with no option to remove it was a good idea.
I believe they said in the next update that you’ll be able to remove that. It doesn’t always work, that’s for sure.
What does the red handle indicator actually symbolise? It must have something to do with the brakes being applied but I fail to see why this is necessary as I've never encountered a situation having inadvertently left the brakes on whilst moving. Yes the barbers pole icon thing is still a bit useless, you cannot really use it for counting down the distance to stop points because it has no measurements, and when in the objective progress phase it is too small and imprecise to use it when pre-empting door closing to meet strict timings on certain routes. Could instead do with the circular indicator like the full HUD has.
Wouldn't mind a very small, discreet symbol for traction interlock (and, yes, I'm dumb enough to forget to reset the throttle on German trains). But that big honking red square has got to go.
Traction interlock. So it's taking place of the red icon with the line underneath it that you see on the power handle position on the normal hud. So with minihud, you could have an interlock but you can't visually see it which is most likely why dtg decided to make it shown so you know you will get power to move
Personally having all this info put into the mini hud takes away the original purpose of you being more involved in the cab instead of looking at numbers on the hud. Boggles my mind with some of the decisions DTG make for "improving" the game.
I belieb each and every element of the new HUD can be turned off (except the bloody interlock alert), so you can tailor it to your preference. Others have suggested, and it squares with my recollection, that TSW4's resolution has been downgraded from TSW2: everything now appears in soft focus-- so much so that on my monitor in 1080 I can't really read digital instruments without zooming.
I don't think that's right (although I'd love to be wrong about this). Turning off all the options I can, this is the smallest I can get the mini HUD: When I'd really like it to look like this: (although maybe a bit smaller and somewhere else on the screen) But please let me know if there's a way to turn off those other elements!
Why is the stopping time displayed twice on the HUD? First is shows "11:34:00" alongside the stop icon, then it says "Stop at location: London Road - 11:34:00". Or does it not do that all the time?
I believe that look can be achieved by using the regular HUD and then pressing the following in-game: [CTRL]+[4] [CTRL]+[4] [CTRL]+[5] [CTRL]+[6] or maybe it was: [CTRL]+[4] [CTRL]+[5] [CTRL]+[5] [CTRL]+[6] One of the two, I’m sure
That's close enough for now - thank you! I like the small scale of the mini HUD so I'd still like to be able to turn off those elements (the normal HUD has that annoying thick ribbon which stretches halfway across the screen), but until then I'll live with that. I was so fixated on trying to change the mini HUD, it didn't occur to me to tinker with the old HUD
I am still not convinced whether I like the traction lock or not, but did stumble upon a fix for it remaining on after restarting a save. Just turn on then off the DRA and then it operates normally
