Although I am not Getting it, As DTG Can be... Nothing Less than 24.99 Pounds Or if They want to be Nice, 20 Pounds , nothing less
Given it's a simplified model and they will want to "hook" potential buyers, I see this going for no more than £15 or maybe even less. Probably in a bundle with WSR for £30, too. Also depends how much in the way of royalties are going back to Mattel.
Physical Thomas toys are usually cheap as chips so I can’t see the TSW DLC being expensive. Of course anyone completely new to TSW and attracted by the little blue chap would need the game and WSR as well. WSR is an old route and we have just seen another old route (Sherman Hill) being given away for free for a while so it’s not impossible that the route will just be thrown in at no extra cost, and TSW5 itself has been offered for free up until very recently so I’m thinking a bundle of the game, the route, and the Thomas DLC could very well be the same price as just the DLC alone. At a guess I’d say £14.99 for the lot but I’m no pricing expert so I could be way off.
They're not that cheap if you want multiples though, if wanted both Thomas & Diesel in either the Motorized or Push Along range you're paying roughly $20. the same as most TSW locomotives here. Add in Annie & Clarabel (in Motorized, weirdly they don't seem to exist in Push Along currently) and suddenly it's going be closer to $40, as they're only available with the Talking Thomas apparently. Seems a lot worse with Wooden Railway, as those are $20 each from what I can tell, and in that case Annie and Clarabel are only available in a bundle with Knapford, which retail is supposed to be a hundred, though for what it's worth the Amazon listing I saw was selling it currently for $80-ish. Granted maybe you could find them for cheaper with good deal hunting, or with used pricing on sites like Ebay. But even then I'd have a hard time imagining you could get all of those for less than your average TSW loco DLC, and that's just factoring in engines and some coaches.
I'm guessing £24.99 or £29.99, just like regular DLC routes. £39.99 if DTG think the kiddies will drive their parents mad to buy it for them. Remember that DTG charge £14.99 for a single loco DLC, so there is no way in hell this will be less than £25.
What ever the price is, It will set people off and no doubt there will be another enough is enough Thread Thomas and Friends Price edition posted with umpteen pages of drivel at how expensive, cash grab Thomas is and how DTG should have not been releasing this. Oh and then another post to sign some idiots pettition because they dont like the price for Thomas..... i think I covered almost everything.
Can't say until I know more about how much content is in it. It's been very slim on details this far out, so no clue. Could also be "bundled" which complicates things further. It's just too early to tell.
Well, there will be a bundle I would think. But then you have to add in the license fee, royalties, Steam's cut and the build costs, especially if it's partially or wholly outsourced. Not to mention the anticipated cost of patching the inevitable bugs etc. ( if you think we create a stink about bugs, imagine what kind of a fuss a bunch of pre-schoolers can cause. Actually I'm quite looking forward to the " enough is enough " kiddie version thread. ) It will all add up. It will be more than the average 5 year old's pocket money, that's for sure.
Iam thinking 26 euros, it comes with two locos if iam correct plus coaches and wagons for the both,so for the license, development, working with people outside DTG I think this is a good guess,Not going to buy it myself until sale comes along
For me it will cost exactly 0€, but it will surely be advertised as a full-fat 35,99€ DLC. I don’t see DTG giving this away as Mattel will want their licence money.
It really depends on what the arragement there is between Mattel and DTG and costs of production. There is also a brand value to Thomas and to maintain that value it can't be sold below a certain price. It is also down to who approached who first, if Mattel were looking to expand their product then they would probably be willing to be more open to a set cost, but if DTG contacted Mattel, then there will probably be a higher cost to use Thomas, who knows. I would guess the DLC will be a high to medium price, it won't be free, too many mouths to be feed.
£15 sounds about right, they might do a bundle with WSR included since a lot of new players won't have that route. If I were DTG i'd offer WSR for free for a limited time around the release.
I honestly suspect £24.99. The pack has 2 new locos and 2-4 new pieces of rolling stock depending on how you want to count the variations. There's also the story-based scenarios and I'm sure that Mattel licensing fee is going to be a factor, especially this year with the 80th Anniversary stuff going on. Given that this is more of a novelty dlc, £20 I think would be a sweet spot but I think £24.99 is the more likely price.
