I've now played with the editor a fair bit and my relationship with it isn't off to the best start. Let me be clear, I didn't go into this expecting it to be easy to use. However, I was not prepared for the level of difficulty that this editor is at. There are so many buttons to press and half of them I have no idea what they even do. On launch day, I was completely clueless and it took me a whole hour just to get to laying the track. And when I finally did lay some track, I couldn't because it kept crashing. After laying no more than two pieces of track, it crashed. This happened about five times before I gave up and decided to try something simpler, and make a timetable. I came back the next day and I did eventually succeed at making a timetable, however it took me way too long to figure everything out. What I could've got done in five minutes, took me a whole hour because I had to figure out every step one by one.

My number one problem with this editor is that there is no documentation whatsoever. No manuals, no tutorials, nothing. All we have right now are two livestreams which only cover the most basic things. Keep in mind, I recently got into Blender. And Blender is also pretty hard to use. However I had it mostly figured out within two weeks because there is so much documentation on it, and I can make just about anything without any assistance. I understand that Dovetail's focus was on just getting the editor out there, however it should've came with SOME documentation. Even a manual describing what all the buttons do would be useful to go off of. How are we supposed to learn how to use the editor if we don't even know what half the buttons mean?

And my other issue is the crashing. I'd like to at least TRY to figure everything out, but I can't even do that when the bloody thing crashes so much! How does something as simple as laying track cause it to crash? Is it something I'm missing or is it a bug that got into the editor when it was published? It also doesn't help that not even the DTG guys here on the forum know what's going on. At least get someone who knows this editor like the back of their hand on here to help us people out until the master classes come out. This editor unlocks some serious potential for content creation in TSW, and is the reason why I'm so passionate about it. However as of right now, content creation is next to impossible until we know more about it, and I'm upset at the severe lack of documentation for it.

My earlier thread re Throwing In The Towel refers...

Someone kindly posted help in there with regard to sorting out environmentals.

But I don't seem able to find again where I enter my Google Earth API key or how to enable the overlay, nor am I any further forward when it comes to getting my kml placemark file in and displayed.

\just watch the videos and try a simple scenario. It will take you a horrible lot of time, but probably at some point it will work and will have learned a lot more that by just reading structured docs. Matt's old video is very useful, though it will not solve all your issues.

I more or less managed to set-up things and then creating the actual objectives is not so hard anymore.

Yeah I've been watching some of the previous streams too. I am waiting for the objectives issue to be fixed, but it's expected we won't be creating releasable content quickly. We're in the discovery and learning phase.

If I could just get named markers to show, then at least I can crack on with a flat earth model railway!
