    Hi everyone ,

I am aware that there was the ability to dislike a thread / comment , but this no longer exists . I would like to have this back as it would allow forum users to show that they disagree with something without making a potentially critical / offensive comment , and would be completely anonymous . It would also help the person who made the thread see if something was wrong with how they present it , or if a certain category of ideas was not having an effect .

    Thank you for reading

No good ever came from the dislike button being an option. For instance, if a comment got a certain number of dislikes it would disappear from view. People would also wage war on other members by systematically disliking every post they made. Endless comments of ‘why did you dislike my post?’ and such like. It wasn’t good.

No, some people would just go around disliking threads or topics cause its not of any interest to them (IE. A German user disliking a US thread, or an American user disliking a UK thread.)

I haven't seen a single instance of dislikes not creating toxic downvoting culture anywhere on the web. If something is not popular, it doesn't have likes - that is more than enough I think.

Downvotes tend to start out fine but are then weaponised rapidly, where users find every one of their posts downvoted because someone disagreed with them that one time and it got a bit "lively".

The most effective downvote you can do is not to reply to a post, thereby preventing it from being bumped up the forum.

This is one of those things that should be an option, but whenever it is, it tends to get abused and used as a weapon. Essentially well it has its uses, most acknowledge why we cannot have it.
