While recovering from an attack of norovirus (very nasty, don't get it), I decided to finally try German high speed. Coming from a great deal of time spent in Sand Patch, the combination of higher speed and shorter metric distances was quite an adjustment.

So I'm barreling along but apparently lost focus for a moment, and suddenly I'm pulling into a station at over 100 kph. Brakes to 10, station goes right by, and I eventually stop fully expecting to have to do the Reverse of Shame. Then the tone rings and I'm prompted to open the doors.

"Say what?" I thought, and went to the outside cam. Sure enough, the very back end of the train was overlapping the ramp at the end of the station. No RoS needed! Sure, I could have done it for the passengers sake anyway, but they have legs and I have a timetable to keep. And clearly that ramp was put there for just this purpose.

Two lessons learned: Don't lose focus when one's speed is in triple digits, and the difference between doing a Nat and doing a Matt is <5.8 meters.
