We're able to disable layers per route, however we cannot disable certain substitutions per route. There is only an option to disable all substitutions, but this is not very useful in my opinion. For example, I don't want to see the DB Vectron from Kinzigtalbahn on Bremen - Oldenburg or the BR110 from Linke Rheinstrecke on Nahverkehr Dresden, as the era of the route don't match the train in both cases. With the blurry textures on console, less substitutions maybe also helps to prevent blurry textures, as there are less different trains.

I think it would be a good option to have. Some players don’t want certain locos appearing because they aren’t realistic for the era and some may just want to reduce the total number of different locos for whatever reason but not want to nuke them all. It could be as easy as having a menu like the layers menu with a list of the trains that substitute instead of layers. You just untick ones you don’t want. It wouldn’t get rid of all trains you might not want to see if there’s one that the layer is based on but you still have the option to disable the layer in those instances.

Definitely a yes from me. This would help bring the substitutions in order a little, especially on older routes it's wild.
The BR 110 is a good example. As much as I love it, but it subs into so many older routes for Dosto services it's not even capable of.

Your mention about the old routes also reminds me of the to bright lights of newer TOD4 trains on TOD3 routes, without an option to exclude those trains.

Some of the newer locos work very nice on older routes. A good example is Main-Spessart... the 218, 111 and 140 are all a lot of fun there, and fit in very nicely :D

But I agree. There's a lot of subbing going on which shouldn't take place, and it would be great to have a bit more control about it.

Yes definiately although I wonder if it is possible.

Not seeing a BR110 with Dostos or a class 40 with air conditioned coaches, it wasn't capable of powering would be nice.

Oh deffo and not only that, I wish they'd give us the option to toggle Creators Club liveries on/off, rather than have to fart about unsubscribing and search for the livery again to subscribe again. An example being I have BR Green loco's I use for the Peak route but I don't want them appearing on NTP and I have LNER HST's I use for ECML and they started appearing in GWE:R so had to remove, it's a pain in the backside!

You can activate/de-activate your own created liveries but not downloaded ones

There's an option in the settings to disable creators club liveries showing as ai, but it also stops you from using them too...
