As the title suggests if you simply want to kick back as a passenger on the Timetable Mode I have noticed that if you exit the drivers seat and go and sit in a carriage (for example on ECW) the game does not seem to prompt and ask if you want to give up the service to the AI, is there any other way to force this?
Usually it’s two minutes but sometimes nothing happens at all. It’s daft they didn’t simply include a menu option to give up control then and there.
Thanks, I have noticed it more since the Core update, it either seems to take longer or as you say it doesn't seem to happen at all, I can go away make a cup of tea, come back and still nothing!
the problem is, once it takes too long the whole lot of services become delayed and out of sync and in many occasions the everything will simply be gridlocked and the only way to fix is to restart.
Another note to add is if you are at the terminus then you MUST wait until the service is due to start before giving up control ie leaving the driving seat otherwise the service will be “dead” and the Ai will never take control.
Today I faced this problem as well. I love to ride as a passenger. Today I noticed something unusual when I opened the East Coastway, I got up from the drivers seat and sat on the passenger seat waiting for the prompt asking to give up. I looked at the timer and it was more than 7 minutes that the prompt hadn't come. I thought it was the defect in the time, I looked in the other schedules the same issue which made me think my DLC has problem. I tried with several other routes like Bakerloo Line, SEHS, Munich - Augsburg, Arosa Line the same problem happened. It made me imagine that the new update of TSW 2 doesn't allow giving the control to AI and just sitting on the passenger seat. My solution in order to fix this is to use the Explore on Foot mode. I would like to know if there is any issue in the game or the new update has removed the prompt of giving control to AI by sitting on passenger seat.
yes, like you I tried a number of routes and there was no prompt. I know they have changed the time increments for spawning on foot but it is still a bit hit and miss using that method.
I think that at the terminus stations, there should be schedule boards for the next departing train so that when you are spawning on foot you know which train to board. The routes that need schedule boards are 1) Peninsula Corridor 2) LIRR 3) Amtrak 4) East Coastway 5) Arosa Linie 6) THe DB Routes (Rhine-Ruhr, Spessart Bahn, Munich-Augsburg, Aachen Cologne) 7) LGV 8) Great WEstern Express
Also, when you said yes to my previous post, did you mean yes there could be a bug in the game causing the prompt to take longer or you meant yes the new update of this game restricts giving up control to the AI. I would just like to make it a bit more clear
I take it you are referring to my post, I don't believe they have deliberately removed the prompt, but it seems that something is going on with it as before the patch it was quite well 'prompt' and now you can wait for an absolute age and nothing happens and nobody takes over the service.
So, I would kindly appreciate it if Dovetail games had installed LCD screens at stations showing departure times for the following routes: 1) Northern Trans Penine 2) Long Island Rail Road 3) Peninsula Corridor 4) West Somerset Railway 5) Main Spessart Bahn 6) Hamburg Lubeck 7) Glasgow Cathcart Circle Thank you so much by the way for showing my the photo of the departure boards in East Coastway. A reason why I am bringing this recommendation up is because one thing I loved about the Train Sim World series is the ability to ride as a passenger which is there only in this game. The way I know it usually works is you select a service and sit on the passenger seat until you get a give up control prompt. The other way to ride as a passenger is to explore on foot. The timetable mode is easy since when you are riding as a passenger you have selected a service which has exact time of departure. However, ever since the latest update the give up control prompt is not showing. Now the only option I am left inorder to ride as a passenger is Explore on Foot mode. Only certain routes I find easy to do especially those which have less platforms (1or 2) and those which have Real Time Information since with less platforms there is only one train departing and you will know the destination it is bound for. If there are more platforms there are so many trains that the player needs a way to obtain information which is by looking at the departure boards. So it is highly appreciated and recommended by players and enthusiasts of Train Sim World that all the routes of the Train Sim World series are provided with departure boards.
I'm still getting the prompt quite frequently post update. It would be so much better to have this as settings choice the user has to make. I get the prompt to give up the service often when stopped at a station and running around for collectables. But! The prompt never appears if I sit down as a passenger or stand still waiting to watch a service move off. It make me think the prompt might be connected to how far we travel on foot rather than anything to do with how long. As it's not documented for us, we just don't know and so it appears as the most random event available in tsw to date
I got what you are saying. Do you mean that after a couple of miles of walking have been recorded, the give up control prompt is no longer going to pop up? So then do I delete the history (the number of miles walked and the number of collectibles disposed) in order to troubleshoot the problem of the prompt not showing?
No, Its more that if I walk, the prompt appears so I can choose to leave a service (usually when I don't need it). If I stay still, the prompt seems to not appear, so I can't give up a service (usually when I really want to- as a passenger or train-fanning). I can't definitively say that's what is happening, but it is so frequently like that. I'm intending to check it out some more.
I have now tested this and indeed if you leave the loco and stand on the platform after a few minute it does seem to bring up the prompt, tried it on a couple of routes.
Yep, tried on yet a few more routes/services and every time I leave the loco and stand outside doing nothing a couple of minutes later the message pops up, you just have to be quick to get back onboard in some cases
I understood what you are saying. Now normally I use explore on foot mode in Train Sim World 2. The give up control prompt is still working in an earlier version of TSW that I have. It is called TSW 2020 which I downloaded for free. So what I frankly recommend is that the LIRR, Main Spessart Bahn, and Peninsula corridors should be updated and added with Real Time Information at the station. Or another option would be that the new update should have the give up control button in the options menu. Here is how the formula should be on how to give up the control manually to the AI. 1) Select a route 2) Walk from the drivers' seat to any passenger seat 3) Press the Esc button on the keyboard and it will reveal the menu 4) In that go to options 5) The options box will have give up control 6) Click on give up control There you are now the AI has control of the train and you are sitting on the passenger seat enjoying the ride.
