Apologies if this has been suggested before but we really need this for classic TS. Yes it might compete with how TSW works but let’s face it, until the save game issue in TSW is fixed you can’t really replicate a full shift or sequence of workings. There are also many routes in classic TS that will simply never see the light of day in TSW due to length or other issues. The ability to set up a timetable would avoid the situation of routes coming with a small number of scenarios and also allow repeat trips with the same unit along the same path, which to my knowledge cannot currently be done. Open Rails has a timetable editor which is essentially an elaborate spreadsheet. Give is the chance to jump trains and keep the service going and this could breathe new life into many of our TS routes. Imagine being able to run the whole days timetable on the Mallaig line, for example.
I'm a bit confused - if this is a problem with TSW what difference in having it in TS2022 will it make and why do we need it?
For starters the save game actually works in TS unlike TSW so there should be no issues continuing a run then jumping to another train to take it over. As TS is totally different code no reason to doubt if it is feasible to add a timetable mode, that it would break the save game algorithm, assuming DTG programmers are competent and know what they are doing. And... why not? It would make TS more enjoyable when you can carry on running the operation than one set scenario which then ends.
Timetable mode would need a lot more trains on the map which would cause problems Driving from A to B you see a lot of trains going the opposite direction and non going the same way as your train So say One Player train in one direction and say 6 AI in the opposite direction People have problems writing scenarios when the number of trains reaches a certain level and you wish to add more?
