To all or any TSW and TSW2 train people out there: UE4-TOOLS.png

I have read and watched so much material regarding the TSW2 route creation tools to
be used with UE4 since 2018. Now it seems that only the Livery Designer and Scenario planner
are available and if you want to create your own routes, scenery etc., you can't! It was promised
that passionate developers like me and others (I am sure) would be able to use tools that were
going to be made available to use with UE4 engine.

My 1st question is, when will the tools be available to use with UE4 to create our own routes, scenery
and worlds if you will, to expand TSW2?

My 2nd question is if this is NOT going to be made readily available to all of us for all those who
have purchased TSW2, then can there be a way of one contacting the right person or people to be
able to purchase these tools somehow someway just for personal use only?

I bought TSW2 simply because it was promised that these tools would be made available in the
future, that DTG was working on it. Now everything seems to be up in the air.

Thank you in advance for all those reading my post.

    Sincerely,
    Dee

These tools will not be available to just anyone I am afraid. They ran into issues that would simply not allow them to distribute it to all of us for personal use.

If you want this then you have to prove them that you're a serious third party developer in order to get these tools. That was the purpose of giving all of us Scenario Planner and the Livery Designer.

Thank you so much for your reply Michael. Would you have any idea, who would be the best people to
contact to actually prove to them that I am serious about this?

I do other development projects using UE4 and would love to do something in TSW or TSW2.

    Again, thanks for your insight...
    Dee

Sam (DTG Protagonist) said it wanted to lower the bar for 3rd party developers, so that talented people could more easily start developing content for TSW. You could try to contact him here on the forum

1: No. There will never be a fully-fleshed publicly available editor due to licensing issues with Epic Games (not because "the ground is copyrighted" or "they can't be bothered and so deliberately lied to us" as some have parroted - I do think they honestly wanted to release a full editor). There may possibly be a basic route editor in the future - who knows.

2: Contact partners@dovetailgames.com as mentioned above (they're friendly over there, though often can be slow to reply). This, however, will (assuming they say yes) put you into a business partnershp with DTG so you can make your own DLCs to sell on Steam, Xbox store, PS store and DTG store, so it'll not be for personal use (although I'm not on the programme, so can't say anything about the license they give you).

Good luck getting a reply off them without chasing via Sam though, I can only assume all emails to that address are dumped into a folder marked 'bin'. I have spoken to established TS developers who have emailed and never received a reply, despite everyone being told it is the place to go for it.
