will be showcasing this and doing my 1st trip on this Sunday 17th March 2024 TSW4 Livestream of All Aboard LIVE Episode 78 been looking forward to this project for weeks now ill be giving feedback on the stream and full replay of it link is below for the stream folks.
We do not have ATC north of the border. So I'd suggest running with the safety systems off and you'll be fine to run at line speed.
Well that was good fun. This thread, and the fact that you have created your own timetable, extra paths and liveried stock, got my attention and even though I have little interest in railways 'across the pond' bought all the DLC so that I could see what the fuss was about. And I must say that I enjoyed it very much. Well done and thanks.
Thanks for downloading spikeyorks and thanks for those awesome photos. After spending months working on this, I am so happy people are enjoying it.
After installing the mod, the route disappeared and became unavailable in the travel section. you can fix this. Thank you.
The mod definitely works OK so something must have gone wrong with the installation. Just double checking. Do you have the 4 requirements for the mod to work correctly? Canadian National Oakville Subdivision: Hamilton - Oakville Caltrain MP36PH-3C Baby Bullet Loco Boston - Providence Sand Patch Grade Also have you downloaded and installed the 3 separate mod files? Just have a quick look and double check that you have these 7 things in their correct places.
A strange thing happens: all DLC is there; installed 3 mod files; After installing the mod, the route disappeared in travel mode, although it is in the schedule section.
Hi, I'm trying to understand the problem as I am not sure what travel mode is. Is it the Train Depot or the Choose a Route or something else. Thanks.
I have discovered two large bugs with this. The first one is I cant access rail journeys with this time table installed. The second bug is this breaks rail driver for both the GP39-2 and GP9RM. Neither locos Raildrivers profiles will show up. Thus you cant use the rail driver to joystick mod. deleting the 3 pak files fixes both issues.
Thanks for letting me know. I'll look into what I can do about the rail journeys but I'm afraid I don't have rail driver and no clue what would be required to make it work. Do the other locos work (MP36, F40PH, AC4400, etc) as I didn't make any changes to the GP9 or GP38. Also do you have to remove all 3 paks to fix the issue or does removing 1 or 2 fixes it (just trying to narrow down which make might be the problem).
The other locos profiles are still there. Even other gp38-2 locos only the CN ones seem to break. I will add one pak at time later when I am home from work. I do also use this mod https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/ts-world-raildriver-and-joystick-interface.61440/ It let's one use other joy sticks instead of a rail driver which could also be causing a conflict. You could see what happens if you install it. When a route is loaded you go into settings, controls then advanced controls and it will list all the rail driver profiles for each loco currently on the route.
Okay so I tried each of your pak files one at a time. Its the OSD-stations pak file causing the issue. Also the plot thickens. I had a save with out your mod installed for Oakville. I can load the save with you other 2 pak files installed fine . If I try to load my save with the OSD-stations pak file my game crashes. Also with out the Station pak file installed both CN freight locos don't show up as selectable in your timetable the other locos in your time table are available and rail driver works for those. With out your station pak file installed I can still select the the CN freight locos in the the default time tables and raildriver works there. Once I install your station pak file. The CN freight locos are now selectable in your timetables and the default time tables but my raildriver no longer works for them. Is your mod just referencing the wrong version of those 2 CN locos .? I also uninstalled the rail driver to joystick .dll and it did not solve any of these problems. Hopes this all helps.
Thanks for that information. Odd. Honestly wasn't the pak file that I was expecting as the station pak only changes the passenger density and temperature, adds stations to the station directory and adds new paths for the Scenario Planner. The save crashing the game makes sense as this pak changes the original route/gameplay plugins and UE seems pretty sensitive. The pak that references the 2 CN locos is the timetable. As mentioned above the station pak doesn't and the repaint references only the particular plugins used in it. I'll take a look and see what I can do.
Tried your new pak file, I had all the same problems as before. Still cant select Oakville in rail journeys. Neither freight locos works with rail driver with the station pak installed in both regular time tables or yours. Removing the station pak file but keeping the other 2 paks files. OSD freight locos disappear from your commuter rail timetables. The other trains work fine. I can run OSD rail journeys again and raildriver works with both locos.
Thanks for testing that. Could you try this station pak. Hopefully your rail driver will work and the journeys should be useable. The freight locos will be missing as I have to update the timetable pak but you can spawn on foot and take them over.
Every thing works was able to go to the 2 gp9 in the Oakville yard, start them up and Raildriver worked. Spawned in a gp38-2 and it worked. Also journeys work as well again. Nice work. Now back to what I wanted to request from the start. HAHA. There is good amount of rolling stock in the main yards and sidings along the main route. Add in your time tables it makes the route feel so much more alive. I like running freight in free roam mode, I shuffle stuff around the route, doing deliveries and pick ups . But once your off the main route the other sidings and yards are a little empty, having more power lying around would be a plus along with adding more freight in all those sidings and yards down in the Hamilton industrial park. it would make a nice sandbox for freight runs. Thx for for work on this.
The Stations pak from the Trainsim community site caused TSW4 to crash (the other two paks are OK). I tried the pak above, no more crashes, but the original freight locos are missing from the timetable now. That's a real pity because it spoils the fun. Hope you can solve it at some point.
Thanks for confirming that fixed the problem. As you can see that caused an issue with the timetable which took awhile to figure what was going on but thankfully that seems to have been solved. When I created the timetable I wasn't sure if there was going to be a performance hit having too many static consists kicking around. So that is why I limited the number down in the industrial area. I didn't hear any complaints and it seems to run fine on my system. So I have add more static to the industrial area (mostly Kenilworth Ave and Hobson St). I have used Google maps to create a realistic representation of the area (could really use a steel coil car as Hamilton is Steel Town Canada). Anything else I'll leave to the player to spawn in using God Mode or Free Roam. That's my first report of crashing. Glad the above pak fixed it for you. You can still operate the freight locos, you just have to spawn on foot in either Oakville Yard or Aldershot Yard. I do have a fix which I will be releasing in a forthcoming update. ------------------------- Speaking of update. With spring in the air I have been adding some colour to the timetable along with various fixes,
Tried a new schedule and travel! Many thanks to everyone involved in this development! It is great!!! The gameplay has changed. I get great pleasure.
Good day community. Hope everyone is having a great summer (or winter depending on hemisphere). I am putting the finishing touches on an update to my timetable and am looking for a few of players who could spare a couple of hours over the next day or so to give it a kick of the tires before I release it to the masses. Anyone interested send me a DM.
I am european but I have this love-hate relationship with US diesels. I'm having so much fun with this and I'm so impressed with your work. Editing timetables, liveries and even train physics all at once probably requires tons of learning and effort. Thank you for all your work. One day I want to fully upgrade and electrify the Great Western Express line out of London to represent the line now, which has changed a lot from 2018.
Looks to be working just fine on TSW5 for me. Such a great mod this is. Truly brings the best out of this route. Amazing job, my man.
Hey Pablo5. I'm so glad you are enjoying my mod. It was definitely a labour of love. Never touched UE before so it was a pretty steep learning curve. A lot of hunting around the internet looking for info and a lot of trial & error. Good luck with your project. Cool. Haven't installed TSW5 yet so thanks for checking.
as Dinosbacsi said, you did an amazing job on this mod! I'm really happy I was able to help test it early on. In case you're not aware, you can uncheck DLCs you don't want/need to install at the same time as the base TSW5 on steam, even after it starts downloading, and then install them as you like afterwards. (It might restart the download, not entirely sure about that.) I think you find it in Manage my Content, if I remember correctly. It may save you quite a bit of time.
Thanks Mr. Wilson and of course thanks for helping me to beta test it. Yeah I've just decided to wait away for the dust to settle so to speak before starting the upgrade. My plan is to install the Starter Pack with just Oakville to see if my layers are working as intended and then slowly add each required DLC one by one to repeat the layer test. As I was never able to test that when I created the timetable. More procrastination than anything else.
Just dropping in to say that I love that you even but the SD70 and AC4400 as a substitution back into the original timetable too. I love running the big american diesels, but don't enjoy having to commit to multiple hour long runs (like on Cajon or Sand Patch). But Oakville is nice 20 minute sessions.
Thanks Jelly Scrub. Glad you are enjoying it. Subbing back into the original timetable was a happy accident. Afraid mods are PC only. Would love if this could be added to the console side for everyone to enjoy.
