After a TPWS brake application, how do you get the brakes off to continue the journey? And can someone please tell me if there is a way to turn off that awful music at startup.

Press the AWS button. There’s normally a time delay before the brakes will release too, although I think on TSW that depends on the train.

Yes, there's a built-in delay before TPWS will deactivate, to make sure the train has come to a stop and you've thought about the error you made. Once that time has passed, you'll see the main air reservoir start to recharge, then the brakes can release.

TPWS brake demand lasts about a minute but it depends on the train what happens after. In newer trains like the Class 801 with a bigger panel when you get a TPWS brake demand after the minuet is up you press the AWS button to acknowledge the penalty then the brake release button (both AWS and brake release at the same time IRL) but in older trains like the 158 or 323 the brakes will release automatically after the time is up.
