There seems to be a "feature" in the track editor, that when you try to raise or lower the track by selecting a yellow arrow and raising or dropping it to remove an imperfection in the route, that sometimes a green "arrow" shoots out and the entire length of track suddenly is set to the same gradient, all the way to the end of the route.
So you end up with the track either going into the sky or diving into the ground and stopping at the game limits.
The worst thing is that CTRL-Z does not recover from this and the only way is to crash out.

Can this feature be removed or at least controlled. Or "how do we disable this feature"

You could try cutting the track at the point where the revised gradient starts, then reweld once complete.

Agreed, That is what i do now, but really should not need to do such a workaround. Maybe this "feature" is one that will be deleted in the core upgrade.

The mean feature of a strong need is an ability to enter PRECISE height values at points where yellow arrow appears! Same way as Trainz do. Gradient tools in TSC are very bad, especially in case you need to edit pre-laid track.

They aren't as bad as you'd think, the yellow arrows of course can cause that (yes i've found out the hard way too - although generally if i have to use them, I save before hand and then cut the track before using yellow arrows that bit is a pain but works fine)

(those that have done track for TS1 have basically told me "never use the yellow arrows" but I've always found them fine to work with, annoying of course but not that bad)

Don't forget you can type in the precise height of the yellow arrows - I always forget. I agree about the height shifting - its a PIA if you forget

Where do you type the height?

I think you can do that by double-clicking on the desired track segment, and typing a number in the "above ground" height (the box with an orange upward-facing arrow next to it).

Thanks, just tried it and it works, great for setting the height, it also retains the connections to tracks in the same ribbon, but breaks at the red triangles, but this can be fixed by clicking on the yellow arrows to reset the join

Sorry, but it seems to be adjustment for all rail section, not single node! That's not the same as I need to adjust gradient, not a height of entire section.

When I tested this the other day (on a sandbox route) it changed the height at the point where I highlighted the track and "hinged" on a join between nodes further along. But where there is a break in the ribbon (red triangle) it lifted the whole track in one piece, but it is easy to pull that end back into place.

I really hope there is a way to disable this feature (track all setting to the same gradient) as it took me several attempts to amend a section the other night.
Even with cuts it, still kept setting the gradient when I rejoined the track!
It seems only to happen when a green(ish) tongue sticks out, if that can be disabled somewhere I think it would resolve the issue.
