Not sure if this was ever picked up but this is a reminder of the adhesion issues at or near full throttle (only at higher speeds, unlike what you would expect) with some of the German locos, with details to show the issue. Tests to show issue - Spring Clear weather for dry track conditions. SKA or MSB or alike, zero gradient. Select a service with any of the 185 variants. Keep the wagons attached or uncouple the loco (it makes no difference). After the brakes have released select full throttle. There will be no adhesion issues at this point even with a heavy train and the train will accelerate normally. The problem will occur between the speeds of 55 and 86 km/h, where remaining in full throttle causes violent wheel slipping. Above 86 km/h the traction returns to normal. The same will occur with the 146 but between 66 and 86 km/h I used the Westbound Intermodal 11.10 service on SKA to get the speeds this occurs at but it is replicated on all services. I used the RE1 to Aachen 11.12 for the 146 with Dostos and that too occurs on all services.
That’s why I posted it now because Adam had mentioned they would be working on MSB soon. I had been surprised that it hadn’t made it to the roadmap yet but we now know that the roadmap was semi-fictional and things that had been picked up may not have made it to the In Planning section even if they were quite important. Because this is an issue that encompasses so many services on many routes, I see it as one of the biggest issues with the preserved content, so I’m quite eager to see it fixed, along with the sound on the same locos.
I figured as much. Good timing. I quite agree. The TRAXX locos are not in a good shape right now. Very good thinking to post a reminder for the preservation crew about all the issues we‘ve found.
