Hi All Need some help if possible as I'm new to train sim & trains in general. I took the 387/2 out to Gatwick & had set the safety systems to as follows: DSD=Normal, Vigilance=Normal & AWS=Normal. When going along I can hear the chime as it goes over the AWS magnet when signal lights are green etc but on some occasions the alarm goes off & the train comes to a complete stop & I cant move for about a minute. Even soon after the chime sounds I press the AWS button but the train still performs an emergency stop & then I have to wait. Do you have a very limited time to react to pressing the AWS button? I know its certainly something I'm doing wrong or not setup right but not sure what. Do I have to press the AWS button at every green light it passes? This seems to happen no matter what loco I take out as the Class 47 I took out did the same & came to a complete stop middle of nowhere. Any help & advice much appreciated Thanks
Hello! Indeed, when signals are green, you will hear a 'ding' from the AWS and can pass freely. When approaching a double yellow, single yellow, or red aspect, or a board warning about a speed limit reduction (speed limit in upside down yellow triangle), then you will hear a long 'beep' sound. You have about 3 seconds to acknowledge it using the button. If you fail to acknowledge the alarm, TPWS will activate and apply the emergency brakes. This will be indicated with a red light on the TPWS panel. It will then take a full minute for the emergency brakes to release (you will know when the brakes release because the red light on the panel will go out). You seem to know all of that already, so it would be nice to know where on the route you were stopped, as it may allow us to help further.
i had the same issue was too slow in pessing the aws acknowledge button later i found you only have to acknowledge when the loud beep and dont have to acknowledge when signals are green and the ping sounds
Thanks for the replies. Yes it seems I wasn't quick enough in pressing the acknowledge button. I did not realise the time of about 2 to 3 seconds was all you had. Did a few routes last night & all good from start to finish. Cheers
