Was watching this video Train Sim TV did a while back. He made an interesting point about TSC not having any routes which go past funfairs / Carnivals. Does anyone know any other real life train routes where you can see Fairs taking place ??. The only one I can think of (excluding Blackpool) is New York’s Coney Island. Some of the Subway trains such as the D train you can see a lot of the attractions from the train station. This would be really cool to see in TSW. Especially during the night with all the nice bright colourful lights and stuff. If anyone knows anymore routes around the world like this can you share them in here as I’d really like to see them.
Syracuse, NY. The CSX mainline goes right past the New York State Fairgrounds and the small train display they have there, including a GG1 and RTL Turboliner cab mock-up.
Technically the Metro Center station at Newcastle is part of the Metro Center which up until 2008 had its own fairground (fun times) though the fairground was indoors and all you would see is the exterior of the mall, apart from that I don’t know any myself though I imagine there is maybe quite a number especially over the years. edit: though I can remember Hamburg Lübeck & Horseshoe curve have mastery of this kind of thing (though I ain’t sure how representative of reality they are)
The southern part of the Surfline goes past the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack. The former Southern Pacific Branch line to Santa Cruz goes right up to the boardwalk, they use to run the Suntan special back in the day. The line used to see freight but not anymore. The Santa Cruz Big Trees and Pacific still runs their excursions to and from there to their other location in Felton.
These are all amazing by the way. It would be nice to see stuff like this in TSW though we did get Pleasure Beach in the JT Route which is amazing. I totally forgot about the fair that comes every summer in Burnt Island over in Fife. Some of the attractions are placed right next to the Tracks. Hoping (doubtful) Rivet include this as part of the Fife Circle Line update they are currently working on.
