I’m not sure. I’ve not played ECW myself in a while.
Done a little research on the route and although people are saying it's two branches, I would say it's three.
The line branches between Glasgow and Pollokshields, which has East and West stations. The western branch loops through Cathcart and back to Glasgow, or branches before Cathcart to go up to Newton
The eastern side branches just before Cathcart to go up to Newton, or rounding to the West to the Neilson branch or round the loop to Glasgow via Langside.
So although its a short route the service pattern could be interesting, even if they're all populated by the same loco.
To the people wanting more DLC...
Looking at the RTT for today there's a 320 that runs up the East branch to Cathcart West junction, stops, and then goes back into Glasgow (presumably freeing up space on the station) so this would be a possible DLC perhaps (and the 320 and 321 are very similar, which would make a backdated Brighton Mainline Thameslink possible as they were used there for years)
As I'm relatively local it's 2 branches.
The Neilston & Newton branches come off of the Circle, making 2 branches.
There really isn't any other train in TSW2 that would work for AI at Glasgow. The only thing I could think of would MAYBE be a HST, but they'd have to put it in CrossCountry livery, which they DEFINITELY wouldn't bother getting the license for if it wasn't drivable on the route.
Noooo.... don't mention fences....! A lot of people find that really quite triggering..... ;-)
A lot of peoples OCD will trigger if the word 'fences' is brought up
I was making the circle a third "branch" if you like
For the rest of the response to my previous quote...
either way there are a few possible routes rather than 1 or 2:
GC - Newton via Mount Florida
GC - Newton via Langside
Newton - GC via Langside
Newton - GC via Mount Florida
GC - Nielston
Nielston - GC
I've also found ECS moves from Glasgow Central to Cathcart North junction where they turn back to GC
There's also the moves to and from the depot
Which it isn't.
*tips hat to the artist that made the trailer for Cathcart*
(I loved the reference to steam engines at about 28 seconds)
OK... well there's only two ways to go on the route then? Fine. Your answers have been very instructive and constructive
The possibilities on this route certainly are interesting. It’s definitely not just an A to B or B to A route. Excited.
Do trains run from Newton to Neilston?
I can't find any on the RTT system
Interesting, it's strange to think a big central station only served by 1 EMU, I would have thought at least 2 or 3 different classes would be needed, but I guess I was wrong, good to know
I'm obviously wrong
Which is fine if there's somewhere to go with them...
There are lots of different trains to be seen in Glasgow but not in the game, because they don’t exist in TSW yet.
There are several different types of trains that serve Glasgow Central in real life, however for this route in TSW, we will only have one. So it’ll look pretty empty I imagine.
I mean, you were trying to refer to a mainline (the Circle itself) as a branch. There are three service patterns and two of them operate onto branches.
Apologies if it wasn't clear from the beginning, this was the point I tried to make in my first post on the issue
But then some people replied telling me that only the 314 was fine to represent the traffic in and out of Glasgow Central, but I guess they were talking in the context of possible trains available in TSW2 and I thought they meant that it could be realistic.
I'll pay more attention next time, sorry for the confusion
I do know of another at Yeovil Pen Mill (albeit in a lesser state of repair).
Sorry, I didn’t quite get that!
That looks like a very sad train.
Choo Choo just looks happy tbh.
Also I thought Steam wasn't due out yet?
Also will Choo Choo get livery editor?
WE NEED AWNSERS!
For legal reasons this is a joke
indeed, so in response to the person that I originally quoted, the thing that makes the route interesting in some fashion is that it isn't simply an end to end with different stopping patterns, but in essence three different routes which all intertwine
This looks very promising but too bad with only the 314 we won’t have much varieties but I guess it’s the new politic from DTG to put less trains in a route to incorporate more as a DLC
To be fair it does make enough sense, it's a short route.
LGV is a long route they should have gave us the TGV RD which is Duplex coaches with Réseau power car they only had to model this and for the SEHS the only new train was the 395 as the 377 is recycled from ECW
Asking the real questions! Imagine a Livery competition for Choo Choo
2011-2014. 2011 at the earliest, because of the "7" code; 2014 at the latest because the trains are in pre-Abellio livery.
DTG have said they remodelled the interior of the 377 from scratch, so this took almost as much effort as creating the whole thing from scratch
You've also go the 465 as a DLC for SEHS which was also built from scratch, even though the 166 shares the body shell and most of the cab (and of course the AP sounds were used for the 465)
Yep I know for the 465 but I was stating that unlike in the beginning is TSW we’re getting less stock included in the route than before and for the 377 yeah they redone the interior but it remains a recycled train for me and once again I’m not asking for like 4-5 trains included in the route but at least 2 and if possible not reused from other route it might be bored quickly especially for a short route
And as I said, the 314 dominated the line at this time. The 380 is the closest contender. But for the era it is set in the Class 314 dominated the services, with the 380 only really helping in Peak times. So really the 314 being in its own is entirely justified.
Why do people always need to find ways to critise dtg over nothing
Have you seen the amount of stock that used Glasgow Central at the time?
I suspect we might get a DLC for this route, but it’s all well and good saying add another piece of stock, well where do you stop? You could have had, 156’s, 318’s, 320’s, 220/221’s, 390’s, 380’s in that time period!
I was going to give this one a miss but, judging by the video, I might reconsider. I’ll check out the stream tonight. Glasgow Central is one of my favourite stations that I have been to so it would be nice to get this although DTG’s record suggests that only the platform will be accessible. We’ll have to see.
Interesting so we can’t criticize DTG ?
The 380 is the best option here. 320 and 318 also would fit but they are quite similar to the 314.
The 220/221, 390, 156, 350 all wouldn't fit the route.
I'm not saying you can't however there is no reason to include a second train when there is hardly any need for it.
One base-train is enough for this line.
To put into context how common the 314 is/was on the line in the time period. I’ve gone back through the unit diagrams at the time.
There were 16 Class 314’s, of those 13 out of the 14 diagrams for the Class 314, all included the Cathcart Circle at some point.
The only other unit appearing was the 380 on a peak time trip around Circle, and that was only on 2 services!
2O24 0815 Glasgow-Glasgow outer Circle and
2I17 0754 Glasgow-Glasgow Inner Circle
And that is real data from the 2012/2013, so roughly matches the time frame.
You found some source....! I really thought that the bit in the middle of the trailer, with the view through the wooden steam train's window was pure genius. Really really put a massive smile on my face.
I might buy the route, just for that.... ;-)
I am surprised that there hasn't been a sustained uproar about the quoted route length (or maybe I missed it...?)......
Anyway..... I agree with you - this route does look promising - it is almost a mini South London Network...... Hopefully they will have some sort of extra surprise waiting just before launch, like an included Class 68..... ;-)
I am tempted to get quite hyped up about this release. Cathcart looks, on the surface, so far - to be really nice. However, my previous experience of joining in the hype has always led me to bitter disappointment (and me looking even more of a fool than I already am), so I am trying to restrain myself....
I really hope the preview and launch streams go well - and that this DLC is done and dusted, completed, tested, and ready to go.
Hopefully we see these services included:
Semi-fast peak services Glasgow Central-Neilston that run non-stop round the Circle first stop being Muirend on the Neilston branch.
This is the best comment I've every read in this forum
I have my fine tooth comb ready for the stream tonight. Nits will be picked.
Please Postpone Release of Cathcart Circle Until It is Finished and Tested on all Platforms
The route is being demonstrated right now as I type this post (on 28th May 2021), and the release date has already been announced for 10th June. But the DLC has not been completed. Please postpone the release. It is already clear that:
- the timetable/signalling is broken;
- the number of services have not been finalised;
- the audio has not been completed; and,
- the build, including where passengers are allowed to walk, is incomplete.
It is not humanly possible, or fair on the developers and beta testers to expect this route to be completed, and tested, and released into a final working shipping build within two weeks. It won't be possible to set up more services, and ensure that everything is fully tested on PC, XBox and Playstation.
I want to like this DLC - please don't put everyone through another launch disaster, yet again.
We can wait to get a working version.
Please Postpone Release of Cathcart Circle Until It is Finished and Tested on All Platforms
I’ve asked 5 times why the maps still have no labels , twice whether these are new or old passengers on the route and if they,ll update automatically when rush hour comes out. I’ve also asked why there are no kilted passengers.
Having waited patiently I now know there are penguins at Edinburgh zoo.
I’m not sure as nice as it look I can warrant £25 on a 20mile route so close to rush hour
29.99€ is definitely too much for only 20 miles but hopefully I have some PSN credit left from a gift card otherwise I won’t buy it
I am seriously happy about the amount of Glasgow Central you can walk around. The rain looks good as well.
I have to say, I’m impressed so far as long as they fix the obvious errors before release e.g. the lack of target times and PIS which, to be fair, they have said are being addressed.
I’ll reserve final judgement and keep wallet closed until next week’s stream.
I’ll wait for a sale, no way am I paying £24.99 for this. From what I’ve seen it looks nice but the value for money just isn’t there for me.
The route looks stunning, the modellers have done an amazing job! Can easily see myself sinking many hours into this.
Apart from timetable/PIS, which Matt, has explained, I haven’t seen anything of concern that would require the route to be postponed. It’s coming out on the 10th, that’s what’s happening. The route is basically finished, as has been explained.
Audio sounds a little quiet.
However, the route, and Class 314 model is absolutely stunning, very, very impressed. Signals, look great too.
