Great article, shows a lot of work goes into compatibility for this feature most looking forward to the class 43
...can't wait to paint on the BR204. Of course it's a loco from "Rivet", so the Pres Crew from this article might not be involved. I find such kind of background information always useful, because it shows how much work goes into it. Since all newly released train models are already made paintable, manual post-processing of the UV maps is no longer required. But because there are still so many older train models from before TSW2, some time is still needed for post-processing...
Absolutely interesting post there Jake. How did you get into 3D design and what courses did you take to be qualified to work at Dovetail ?
A great article however this caught my eye, "In June’s Roadmap, we shared that we’re investigating adding in the functionality for Northern Trans-Pennine's Class 47/4" No not quite. The roadmap said it was coming and a couple of screenshots were shared. Has this now changed?
A question for Jake: Is there a technical reason why Livery Designer doesn’t give users access to the variable-text fields which generate randomized serial numbers etc?
Very interesting read and insight into the product, but overshadowed by the reveal that the DTG Devs are painting the trains in lyrics! For everyone not familiar with it; look at this: and then listen to this: I love details like this, it shows me that the Devs find fun in their works, and that often leads to a good product. Very much looking forward to more articles like that, and a possible release of this livery on creation club...!
