Xbox Train Sim World 3 Leaving Game Pass On September 1 Is Impossible

I read everywhere the nonsense, that Train Sim World 3 Leaving Game pass from Sept.1st. That is impossible to do, the contracts says clearly, you need to announce the game 2 weeks before the leaving date, this was always the case, in case of "emergency" is possible to remove something, but that's also needs an announcement (see Quantum Break). DTG breaks the Game Pass rules if just removes the game without announcement. I checked multiple times, places, there is nowhere shown, TSW3 title on the Leaving soon OFFICIAL list for Sept. 1. They can remove their game after this only at Sept.15th. Or can anyone give me Microsoft official source the game is living before Sept.15th? Or DTG really think they can just remove a game from Xbox Game Pass without announcement?

 

Probably a Microsoft error not to include it on their leaving soon list. The DLC discounts on the console store are expiring at the end of the month. It's likely leaving then.

 

It is a bit strange that it wasn't included in the latest "leaving soon" list. Anecdotally, it has been known on this board since November last year when a community manager confirmed the end date.

 

The problem, not everyone read these forums, and will be a huge thing when players will see at Sept.1st they can't play the game again. While was no warning anywhere.

 

That’s not really relevant to the facts of the situation though, if TSW 3 came onto game pass with an end date, then it is what it is.

Every single developers before had the 5 minutes to give Microsoft the news, they leave. No developers left their game from game pass without being on the leaving soon list, or announcement from Microsoft with "emergency" removal. No that is, rules is for everyone. Also, they says console dlc discount, yet no discounts on Xbox game pass. I don't know what Id think of DTG now, after this. I always supported them, but now I feel they kinda ignore game pass players. Or Xbox players?

 

It's not just leaving Game pass, it's being delisted from the store entirely.

I do see a problem with career progress for Game Pass users. Apparently, to carry your medals, XP etc etc forward into TSW4 you will need to have TSW3 installed. This will be impossible for those whose 3 is from Game Pass.

 

Simple enough buy the whole game.... that's the risk of using a gamepass

 

The game leaving game pass doesn’t mean it’ll be wiped from the console, even if it’s delisted (which it won’t be until TSW 4 releases), it won’t disappear from your console, you just won’t be able to buy it.

Once it leaves Gamepass, you just lose the digital licence, meaning you wouldn’t be able to launch the game, but it stays installed.

 

Correct you have always the possibility to buy the full TSW3 game

You dindt lose you're progress. Do not delete the TSW3 game and wait untill TSW4 is released and available in the gamepass

Well it's in the FAQ, right? They got me, well played Dovetail, I'll have to buy TSW4 or go back to TSW2. Luckily for me I'm very interested in the new routes.

 

They announced the end date last October, 2022, telling us when it was leaving Gamepass.

Have you bought any routes for TSW3?
I've been relying on game pass, but when I bought the Birmingham route you could buy the route and the game for the same price as the route alone, so that's what I did.
Might be worth checking owned games to see if you have done the same.

 

Disgusting. Listing a game leaving 1 week before leaves. Goddamnit I don't have a million to buy every add-ons now, while if they announced this thing as INTENDED BY RULES, I'd be able to buy 3-4 add ons, and don't spend my money on other game. You know what, this is now clearly the trend, find out something you don't like about the game or how you play it then blame everyone else because it doesn't fit what you and only you wanted, it's basically like somebody trying to start a revolution and then looking down and realising that they have just shat themselves, before the awkward waddle to escape as they try not to spread it everywhere on themselves........

 

The end date was announced on Game Pass at the same time TSW3 was first listed, last October. It's not like you didn't have notice.

 

The did it with the Rush Hour pack too back in Nov 2021. They said the 3 route pack would be discontinued and each route would then be only puchaseable individually from then on when Rush Hour released.

But they said that it won't happen until January 2022, and we will give plenty of notice.

The second Tuesday of November 2021 they annouced the pack was being dicontinued that Friday.

So hey even of you missed last years post in October that it was leaving Sept 1, 23 at least you got a weeks notice instead of 4 days.

 

To transfer your profile over you DON'T need to have TSW 3 installed as it's getting the info from DTG live servers and not the game info. Even your save data will be sourced from the cloud save so as long as you only delete any saves from your console and DON'T select delete everywhere you game save data will still be available on the cloud.

I’m sure many, like myself, assumed it was a placeholder date due to the fact it’s been a Game Pass title since TSW2020.

It’s a shame, really, as I never would have discovered or played this game otherwise. TSW being on Game Pass led to me making hundreds of $$$ in dlc purchases over the years.

 

It's getting the info from the Xbox cloud save if it's the same process as TSW3. I didn't need to sign in to DTG and it gave me the option to import my TSW2 profiles.

 

Dang I bet this happens a lot with people that don’t understand they are using a subscription model. Microsoft has you in a Sub, you don’t own a damn thing, understand this people and don’t buy DLC for games you don’t own!

You can get angry when they get pulled from the subscription, but it doesn’t make sense as you are paying for the service not the goods.

 

While you don’t need a Tsw 3 license to transfer your TSW3 profile to TSW 4, you do need to keep TSW3 installed on your device until after you migrate your profile to TSW 4.

Will my Train Sim World 3 progress be transferred to Train Sim World 4?
To make use of progress transfer you will need to have Train Sim World 2 or 3 installed on the same platform and account. Once the progress transfer has been completed you are no longer required to have previous games installed. Transferred data will include medals, profile stats, and general completion progress.


However, achievements will not automatically unlock after profile transfer. You will need to be actively earning progress towards the criteria of an achievement before it unlocks. For example, if you need to drive 100 miles in a loco and you have over 100 miles of progress transferred, you will need to be driving that loco before the achievement unlocks.

 

The profile info is not in the cloud (at least not the DTG cloud).

Dovetail will have notified Microsoft well in advance that they were withdrawing TSW4. The (lack of) display on Game Pass' "Leaving Soon" tab will be a Microsoft error, not a Dovetail one. They don't control they Xbox store, just TSW.

 

MS know what they paid for, and devs don't to notify them when their game is about to leave GP…

 

It has not been on Gamepass since 2020. There have been 3 different versions of the game on Gamepass.

 

The profile is on the save file, stored in the Xbox cloud and kept in sync on the local storage. I could import my TSW2 profile into TSW3 on a completely different console without needing any previous game installed. So unless there's something specific like opening TSW3 to confirm moving progress, I expect it will work this way in TSW4. I'm on a different console now and I last played TSW3 on Cloud Gaming. I don't have it installed on this console. If it needs to be installed in this situation, then I'll do that. It should in theory request the save and the Xbox cloud save system will sync it to the console. I know it downloaded the TSW2 save last time to import the data into the TSW3 save.

 

I didn’t literally mean this current version of the game has been on GP for 3 years, but that TSW has been on GP continuously in some from since TSW2020.
Each new title release was on Gamepass at launch, so it wasn’t unreasonable to expect that again. Doesn’t really matter now.

 

I think the FAQ is wrong on TSW3 leaving Game Pass September 1st. All the other games got advance warning from Microsoft and have now left the service. TSW3 is on Game Pass still for another 2 weeks.

 

Perhaps that they meant to say the 1st was the date they were putting that notice in.

DTG haven’t been too clued up on how consoles work previously & the various TSW 4 pages have been filled with contradictions & errors.
