Having watched the roadmap stream for TSW 4, DTG Matt, I figured you’d be the best person to ask this question. Is TSW 4 better optimised for PS5 so that it starts faster than TSW 3 and has a more stable frame rate with fewer stutters? I’ve read that it can take ages for TSW 3 to load on PS5 and that performance whilst running the game can be a bit of a let down? On a side note, I think the use of the lighting and audio functions on the PS5 controller is a really fun concept to show the next signal aspect and to make crossing junctions etc a little more immersive.
No changes to performance on TSW for PS5, load times are very much dependant on how much DLC you have installed as it needs to scan them to see what you have to build up the menus etc. Matt.
The weird thing on PS5 (at least for me) is that it always seems to load sloooow even with only a few DLC. In contrast with Xbox which loads lightning fast without DLC but much slower (still faster than PS5) with lots of DLC.
When I tried TSW 3 on my Xbox Series X (I only had the base game installed), it started extremely quickly. But then I was instantly put off by the sound issues that I’ve gone off the idea of buying on Xbox and thinking of buying it on PS5 instead. I note that Matt mentioned in the TSW 4 road map stream that the Xbox audio may have magically been fixed in TSW 4 according to reports from their beta testers.
the problem with the ultra fast SSD is that games NEED to be built around that speed which is why 1st party games load much faster than 3rd party stuff and especially cross gen titles like TSW2/3/4. I don't think TSW games are optimised for the SSD very well and PS5 versions don't seem to load that much faster than the PS4 versions. Until last gen is gone and games are built on current systems this will affect many games not just TSW
my xbox x takes like 2 min to load have most of dlc] now my pc takes less then 30 sec to load have most of dlc. why is the xbox x so slow
I don’t know. I bought on PS5 rather than Xbox because the sound put me off instantly when I tried TSW 3 with Game Pass.
Xbox Audio has not changed, no. We have a handle on next steps, but there are other implications if we fix it that might cause problems elsewhere - so we need to ensure there's no issue there first. Matt.
