Introduction Hello today I am sugestion the beutiful coastal highland route that is the kyle of lochalsh line! This route is loved by many from tourists to locals everyone likes the kyle line! So, in todays suggestion I'll be telling you about the route, rolling stock and everything it has to offer for TrainSimWorld4. The Route This is a 82.5 mile route running from Inverness, The Scottish Highland Capital to Kyle of Lochalsh, the gateway to the Isle of Skye. There is around 8 Trains per day as well as Far North Line Traffic running as far as Dingwall. There is also a special railtour that we will talk about later. There is 17 Stations on this route many of wich are request stops. On your way there is lots to look out for, see if you can spot: The Skye Bridge The Plockton Coral Beach Loch Carron The Connon Bridge The River Bran and so much more... Rolling Stock ScotRail Class 158 Saltire Livery The Class 158 is alredy in-game currently in the Skyhook Games route Midland Mainline Derby-Nottingham-Lecieshire route. The train can be reused from that line and put on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line with a few changes: New Livery New Interior (Seat pattern, P.I.S, etc...) Slightly Different Cab The Class 158 is one of the most famous sprinters. It is known for it's power and good acceleration for a DMU. As such these trains were used on some inter city services when they were first brought into service. The First company to use these trains was ScotRail. ScotRail sought out these trains and brought them up from Derby Litchuch Lane Works to begin their operations. They began replacing many old BR stock and loco hauled trains. Soon they were operating on mainlines such as Glasgow Queen Street to Perth and Inverness. Glasgow Queen Street to Edinbrugh Waverly Stirling to Dundee and Aberdeen and many more! The class 158's were big with many operaters because of their onboard ammenities such as: accessible boarding, gaurd pannels, onboard telephones, gangways for crew to traverse between coupled trains. The Class 158 was a dream back then. Sadly as you travel further and further to the modern day more and more of these trains are getting replaced. Now ScotRail seems like they will be the first operator and the last operator to use he class 158. These trains look absolutely striking in the ScotRail Saltire Livery and are still very nice and very comfortable to travel on. Class 43 VP185 Midland Pullman This is the Midland Pullman Railtour. A luxuious service. Today you will drive it smootly non-stop from Inverness to Kyle of lochalsh and back on a special charter service. Nont in the mood to drive? Be a gaurd and dispach & operate the doors on our train. Join the hospitality crew and greet passengers as they board and deliver their meals to their seats. Or be a pasenger and sit back and enjoy the view. For this train you can re-use the Midland Mainline HST just relivery it and change the interior. Hopefully it gets recreated nicely in TrainSimWorld. I hope you like it as this took me hours! Please let me know your thoughts below.
I was thinking to myself recently i'd love a scottish route where it's modern, diesel, and could be something of a network.. and i think having a route out of Inverness would be the absolute perfect choice. the route you suggested here is definitely reasonable from a mileage perspective.. you could even add a part of the far north line as far as Alness or Invergordon to provide a bit of variety too. so yes i'd definitely love to see Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, and it would actually provide the Class 158 with a really significant route to drive as well (plus the Scotrail livery looks great on the class 158!) if anyone from dtg reads this, i second the suggestion for a modern day scotrail branch line out of Inverness!
Thanks, I'm glad you like the suggestion! I too love this line! It's so scenic and really highlights some of scotlands best scenary! It would really put the Class 158 to work too! Maybe an extension up even as far as Wick coule be possible in the future! Thanks for the feedback! P.S: I'd love a ScotRail Class 158 netowrk too!
very good suggestion, would love to see the midland pullman layer on other routes. maybe rivet is making this route as one of the 2 uk routes on the roadmap?
That would be good as we don't need to worry about the sounds for ethier of the trains. And rivet are usually good with their modelling anyway. My only hope is that they include smart p.i.s for the 158!
This would be amazing to have in game! That scenery looks stunning, what a sight for the drivers.. And I also like the sound of request stops in game they would be cool.
There's so many positives to this route (and the mileage actually surprised me for some reason i thought it was further between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh.. but if anything this just makes it a more realistic prospect to have in tsw!) my personal favourite scotrail is the class 170, as when i used to have to travel regularly between Edinburgh and Glasgow it was always Class 170's before electrification (i kinda wish Rivet's E-G was set before electrification and with a Class 170 for that reason!) so i'd love that train in scotrail livery to come into the game someday as well but the more i think about it, the more i think Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh with Class 158 would be an amazing route to drive!
Great suggestion mate, certainly a really beautiful route, I do wonder if there were more trains if it was set in the past, even if it was when the locos handed over to sprinters so they can still be included. Still certainly route which would be great to have just for the scenery!
Yea, the class 170 would be really nice, maybe on an Inverness to Perth line? Glad you like the suggestion!
i'd love inverness to perth with a class 170! I do love the class 170, & i'd love to see inverness represented in game too
Was on a couple of 170s on Sunday between Edinburgh and Dundee, still nice comfy trains. That would be a decent route too with the Forth & Tay bridges. On topic, a well done, Inverness to Kyle route with a 158 & HST Pullman would maybe be the one that got me to bite the TSW4 bullet….post review of course.
For me the Kyle Line has really got to be set in the loco hauled era. A Class 26 hauling 8 coaches up some of the gradients will be far more of a challenge than driving a 158. Or at a pinch the Class 37 era.
Wehey! Was wondering when you'd show up Vern! As much as I'd like a class 26 in the game I just prefer sprinters. Interesting idea though!
Oh yes! I'd love Dundee to Edinburgh. Maybe at a push include the fife circle line along with that through to Glenrothes as well! Have suggested it previously, very nice line. Honestly, yea. The Kyle line would be brilliant for TSW4! You never know, there's still a chance it comes as a future add-on and you may yet but tsw4 some day... Glad you like the suggestion!
I think it might just be the amount of stations and speed limits is why it takes so long. But yes it's a beautiful route. Class 170 would be lovely too!
