Xbox Train Sim World 4 Update 13th November What A Joke

Just recieved an update this morning and thought great DTG have woken up and sorted out the problems we have since day one, how wrong can I be. Nothing except they say and I quote.
We've got a small patch to address a couple of issues for Vorarlberg that will be going live ahead of the release for Blackpool Branches tomorrow.
Come on DTG get theses problem sorted out IE
1. HUD keep going back to NORMAL when starting a new game
2. Unable to hide Track monitor.
3. One thing that I have noticed that when scrolling through the various locos in the store section the search when you get to the end of the current section it will send you back to the start onto the top section.

The whole thing here is a joke. Its the case a grab the money and run. As I have said before guys here have paid good money for what I can say is a broken game. So much needs fixing. DTG don't give a dam once the game is release they just hope that they will add yet another broken route which as we know is already broken but hey we can get some extra cash here. And worry about the fix at a much later date.

Unfixed bugs are an intrinsic part of TSW, there are bugs that still remain over multiple iterations, there was no reason why anyone would think TSW4 would be any different.

People will learn one day.

 

Tbh for such small issues they could've and should've waited and put them in with other more important issues for an update. No idea why they've come separate.

If it's gonna be a quick and small update something like increasing the brightness of the pzb indicators in the talent 1 for non-PC players would've been appreciated.

 

Why do you want to wait?
I see how bundling fixes together into one larger patch makes sense for the publisher, both logistically and potentially for PR too, but as a player I don't see why I'd not want a bug fix when it's ready?

Just a thought- if you were able to provide precise detail on what the patches address, it would enable the player base to test en-masse and any issues would become potentially more rapidly apparent, enabling speedier visibility of issues for resolution?
At present patch notes seem vague.

 

And also it seems to set up some stuff for the upcoming Arosa Aggregates DLC, since Arosalinie and the RhB Anniversary Collection were also updated...

 

Hmm, I wonder why those needed updating when the aggregates pack will be a separate timetable?

Regardless of it's quirks, TSW4 isn't a one star game.

No I agree 100% it's a 1.5 star

 

None of awaited (by me) fixes and updates since TSW 2 were introduced till now. The review is my personal opinion on the whole "series 2,3,4" of this ONLY ONE train sim running on Xbox (monopoly). I've enumerated and describe each negative star in my review - nothing simpler than solve them and gain new score.

 

Good point but I just think it depends on what's being fixed. If they were fixes for something quite important like I said I'm my post I wouldn't mind it being so small but imo the 2 listed just seem a little insignificant to be put out by themselves if that makes sense

 

By itself, it really isn't. But when you consider the fact that it's just a cheap cash grab attempt by releasing the same game a fourth time, it really dos not deserve better. I mean most of the features it was advertised with as a "new game" don't even work!

 

That’s a bit harsh. That’s saying it’s 100% LOVE!
When in fact that’s not true, sure there are problems, bugs and other minor issues plaguing the game. Yet, you can still play your favourite routes and enjoy the game 99.5% of the time.
It’s that 0.5% that people focus on the most.
If I asked you now to outline some pros and cons, good/bad features, I’m sure you’d list some pros and good features. That alone doesn’t warrant a 1 star then.

 

I don’t think I’d ever play a game what I gave 1 star, nor would I bother to interact on a forum with it like I would want to use it.

Each game/iteration also needs a separate review in my view, I believe I gave TSW4 a 4 star on MS, bugs more add up in the dlc rather than the core so didn’t fully take that into account, the star drop I believe was due to the differences between TSW3 + 4 were very minimal.

 

Well, it seems you managed to squeeze in some rather significant changes too, given that they completely broke the Editor.

 

There's plenty of good to be found. It may come as a surprise, but there's a plethora of positives with TSW.

I'm just going to clarify and say that I didn't mean there isn't a bad side - there certainly is - but that doesn't mean it's all bad, no one would play it otherwise.

 

What's broken with it? I haven't updated yet, and am mid working on a timetable.

 

Doesn't open at all anymore, just crashes during startup.

 

One step forward, two steps back.

 

Call me a miser, but I don't think "it's not all bad" should be the headline for a new iteration of a game.

 

I generally run on this kind of 1-5 for my reviews

1 - atrocious
2 - has very bad issues preventing me enjoying it
3 - it’s ok/fairly decent, got numerous issues quite far away but still potential
4 - it’s good/great has a few issues needs more attention to get that sorted, nearly the best with potential
5 - proper enjoyed this, it’s pretty perfect next to or no issues found

Edit: I think my time on TSW alone proves it could never be a 1 rating from me, 4 definitely seems the fairest to give on that aswell.

 

I would personally rate TSW4 as a three star (out of five) game. Not total pants but far from perfection too.

As regards the updates, intrigued to know what needed changing in order for BPO to function! Possibly the bouncy bounce effects so we can all end up puking over the keyboard after driving the 142 for 30 minutes…

 

I think this is pretty fair, and would put it around 3.5, just to be awkward.
Some routes make it a 4, some a 2.
Bear in mind, I am not as picky as some. I enjoy it as an escape from daily life. I do not demand/expect 100% authenticity or accuracy. Especially if a little artistic licence makes the product better.
Some of the things people find wrong, I had not even noticed !!

 

The same could be said for saying there's nothing good about it. Some of the released routes and locos are actually quite good.

 

Gets 0.5 from me so i will not even re-install.
Much better options with the ETS2 and ATS open beta's, to keep me entertained.
Then of course there is SimRail on the 21st Nov, another big FREE update.
The two truck sims are older than TSW and SCS have never once asked for money to update the two games.
Must be the difference between rip off Britain, the Czech Republic and SimRail in Poland.

Yea I agree, 4 for base game from me, add ons vary quite a lot in my reviews. (3 is a rare one for me to give and 1 has never been used)

For example, class 700 is a clear 5 from me, vectron is unfortunately a 2 due to Z-Fighting waiting to give that about a 5 should that be resolved.

 

Guess that shows the subjectivity lol. I'd swap the scores around.
Vectron I consider one of the best locos in the game, certainly the best German one.
The Class 700 doesn't really get to stretch it's legs currently, and I find it's sections on SEHS not that fun due to how slow it is on third rail.

 

I'm not convinced "It's actually quite good if you buy £££ worth of DLC" is any better to be honest.

 

probably varies by console/pc aswell, vectron I just can’t use because of an issue, so couldn’t rate higher, I was aware of its development like how much effort they put in to better it, so couldn’t rate it a 1 from that neither.

class 700 for me I’ve found the slightest bug only, no major issues, sounds are decent though I’m not an expert, lots of potential later on and above fair amount currently and overall very nice so 5 it got.

 

Eh, I give it a rating of 2 stars.

I don't think it's that bad of a game (it isn't), but seeing as there's an entire train and an entire section of a route I haven't been able to peruse since six months (on TSW3 and now 4), I don't think I can rate it any higher.

 

I'd probably like the 700 more if we had a decent route length where it can run on it's pantograph. It's much faster with that.

I couldn’t give an addon/game what I call good or decent any lower than 3, I always regard 2 & 1 as varying degrees of pretty bad.

 

I will say that quality has declined recently, but honestly as long as it doesn't crash or as as long as I am able to complete a service without any issues, it gets a pass from me. Although I do have a lot of issues with it.

 

It's a low bar innit.

 

It's more of the whole thing, there's just the pressing issue of not resolving a crash and then releasing a new game with the exact same crash that prevents me rating it any higher. One bad egg and the others are rotten sort of thing.

I do thoroughly enjoy it, but not as much as I would like to.

 

That's the bare minimum I expect from any game.

 

I thought I’d ask as I haven’t been able to write off a train for general operations capability and it seemed like you had a specific one in mind.

 

And Snowrunner. Picked up the Season 3 Pass which adds 3 new zones/six maps with probably 100's of hours of gameplay for less than £20 (already bought the S1 and S2 ones). But DTG and their associates want £30 for a single route DLC. I don't know how long it takes to create a Snowrunner map but there is a disconnect between the value for money I have to say. Even though I will in all likelihood buy the JT BPO route I'm already wondering how much use it will get after the initial novelty has worn off.

 

This is like saying the people who say they don't recommend the game on steam and explain why is harsh. You do realize that people are entitled to their views even though you may not agree. Plus all the issues with the game will understandably make some put a negative review. TSW 4 still has a mixed reception on Steam

 

people have their reviews/views, they’ve already made them clear in many cases, doesn’t mean that’s a free pass from opposing views especially when specifically sharing it out there.
