Dovetail Direct in August. With all the speculation around TSW5, this could only mean one thing

Judging by there not being much on the roadmap I would suggest TSW5 is imminent

 

Getting a bit ridiculous. Is this going to be a thing every single year ??. Yeah sure you get 3 routes with the game usually but it’s all the hassle of having to download everything over and over again.

 

Same thing has happened every year, and unfortunately, it seems like DTG aren’t gonna stop doing this, and no one is gonna stop them, this is gonna be a repeat of last year

 

It's really sad I have to fork out my wallet each year on a brand new rendition. Well I don't HAVE to exactly but I guess to move with the times I have no choice lol

Maybe they will use suspension improvements as a advertisement for TSW5, probably won’t get them till TSW 7 most likely..

 

Ah, ____, here we go again.
See what can we get, another Dovetail Direct, and by Aug 20th, we can see the brand new TSW5 featuring 3 route and 2 loco DLC just like TSW4. Then, all of these would happened again at 2025.
The announcement of new TSW would become an annually event: they would announce a Dovetail Direct at July, and then announce the new TSWX on that event at August.

Yeah, maybe not. No news on any of the 4-6 month 1st party content. The 101 maybe the last of the TSW 4 content. TSW 5 here we come

 

Were people really expecting anything different? This is hardly surprising.

 

Curious to see what features it will contain

 

I‘m now not sure if this is TSW5 or a TSW2 Rush Hour style bundle. The only reason it makes me say that is that new content is listed on the TSW4 Roadmap in the 3-6 month section. If it was TSW5, it shouldn‘t be on the Roadmap at all. - I could well be wrong though. Let‘s see what the 20th August brings!

Exactly what I was thinking! I have a slight feeling that it’s a subscription service like what they did with TSC.

 

I hope it is to show us the first 3D modelled WC in TSW.

 

How I currently see TSW5 until there is more proven evidence of the cat being out the bag or still in it lol

 

They did show it as separate addons, so im still holding out hope that it'll be a rush hour style expansion

honestly I agree also the time of the annoucement of the annoucement is alot earlier than last year IIRC it was about 2 week beform the Dovetail Direct stream this year its more like 6, so I do think this might not be TSW5 this time and something more akin to rush hour btu we'll have to see

 

If it is TSW5 then great, bring it on, I enjoyed TSW4, and still do.

However, I am not so sure it is a TSW5. as Dovetail Direct sounds quite different and has six items as part of it. They announced TSW4 quite differently.

 

Let's be honest here. We're all gonna buy TSW 5

 

Yes, sooner (full price) or later (sales) all of us. If the TSW5 is going to be annouced on 20th of August, there is still a chance to be just some new content bundle for TSW4 and releasing projects like Roboblox tycoon or whatever it is. I can’t imagine what new could they bring to pack it as TSW5… new game engine? Better scenery loading while driving? Idk.

 

If this is TSW5, it'll get like the F1 and WRC games where everyone will just stick with what they've got for a few years, knowing the next instalment will be exactly the same as the last, and we can just drop in with an occasional version upgrade when there's a new DLC we genuinely want. We're at a point now where there's loads of content I don't own for TSW4, so plenty for me to do before upgrading again (at least before it's discounted to under a quarter of its original asking price).

key criteria for myself to allow purchase of dlc since post Blackpool branches release date or new iteration is that the Xbox z-fighting issue is resolved, as it stands the answer remains no, so the answer to should I purchase ‘TSW5’ the answer is no.

if that version contains the fix, I’ll pick it up when it does, if not, guess I need to put the same criteria to TSW6 etc

it’s a bit poop I will essentially need to buy a version to fix that important issue considering it looks to be TSW4 joins the abandonware list, but that’s not a story uncommon with bugs and no fixes for old versions

My foot is down and firm on this stance.

 

I reckon it’ll be a route bundle given that some TSW4 features haven’t yet even been implemented (*cough* suspension *cough*). The tea boy/intern working on the latter better get a move on, especially if they implement the correct animations of the suspension components which they should in order to do it justice IMO.

I must say I am actually less sure whether we'll be getting a TSW5 this year. That roadmap looked way too busy and I don't actually feel TSW4 has finished releasing yet! Though of course the past two times I've denied I have been proven wrong so take that as you will!

 

I don't think it is that different from TSW 4. 3 of those items are the 3 routes for the standard edition. Another item is a route/remaster/extension for the Deluxe edition and the other 2 items would be Deluxe edition locos.

My guess is they will sell it as TSW 5 and it will be a surprise if they don't.

 

and as I predicted, they will release contents of 0-3 months section of roadmap for tsw4 and it will stop there, 6 months forward section will only have access those who purchase tsw5 with 3 routes for standard package and a few more things for deluxe and special edition packages

I probably won’t, atleast till there’s a sale. There are other games releasing around the same time that I have more of an interest in rather than just purchasing another TSW installment. Games such as, Farming Simulator 25, COD Black ops 6, Microsoft Flight simulator 24, and maybe the new Indiana Jones game if it releases this year.
I’m honestly burned out with have to buy a new TSW every year..

 

I'm gonna be honest as much as I dislike the idea of buying a new game every year with new bugs and old bugs, I have to buy TSW 5 if I want to play JT's new route and Tadami Line so it's what it is. I already knew TSW 5 was gonna be a thing since last year so I'm prepared for it.

 

Dovetail need to read the room, TSW5 isn't need, heck neither was TSW4.

 

I know about and respect your stance on Xbox z-fighting. Unfortunately, I have bad news. Although I have not noticed z-fighting with the BR 218, it is present on the Kahrlsruher Kopf/diesel cab car, and in a very noticable and distracting way right on the huge Sifa button. This after we have been told that z-fighting was fixed for future releases including the BR 218. I am not hopeful that any of these xbox-specific issues will ever be fixed. It is certainly frustrating.

 

Thing that annoys me the most is that i would be happy staying with TSW and only purchasing third party content (like JT and TSG). Also interested in Union Workshop's creation, but for this i have to invest into dtg products.

It makes sense from a business perspective: as long as we are interested in buying anything tsw related, we have to purchase dtg content first. That way they are "securing" income.

In my Utopia, DTG only does the foundations, concentrating on Engine, UI and so on, while Studios like JT developing content. Of course thats not going to happen.

So lets see what offer they have for us.

 

i think I also saw it on the class 710 from clips/videos I’ve seen, so not isolated to TSG. It’s a strange situation currently with holding off until they all see the fix it’s not been a real issue for me (since I have of course not got it) though definitely equally the same issue.

I figured it really needs a core fix rather than train by train, and to wait until that’s arrival (assuming it would ever arrive, only alternative is the end of my TSW days minus being able to still use the trains I already have what don’t have the issue.

it got too big of an issue built up over a long time to just ignore, large chunk of my collection just feels like it’s been abandoned by myself as I just can’t enjoy the cab with constant issues,

It’s definitely got an appropriate name at least, it’s a losing fight when you can’t do an thing about it yourself.

but looking at reality from DTG perspective it’s customer ease vs profit, and from that perspective, a business, its real easy to see which wins.

need a factor a lot stronger than “ideal” to change the system.

I think I 99% agree with 3, but I’d give 2 a free pass, I really think it reformed the first one, that deserves some respect.

Considering the price is the routes, which are cheaper than separate/usual dlc prices

I think the issue of it is down to

1. it’s required for updates to broken things and updates to owned content
2. It locks off new dlc from access

ultimately it really is just a strong attempt at forcing sales of select dlc.

[EDIT - Jan - Language] are releasing at the wrong time with microsoft flight simulator 2024 and farm sim 25 they are not gonna do well this time im not buying tsw5 til christmas steam sale again and people are right we have to uninstall reinstall all our dlcs again every bloody time

at least give us the [EDIT - Jan - Language] core update for free and let the routes be purchased optionally everytime you upgrade were forced to buy it so we can buy the newer content dlcs its unfair and extortion
