LIRR and 101 sound nice. But damn, you really want full charge for both of the from players who already own, just for upgrades? Honestly?
Besides, the 218 and 380 really look good.

Whoa! TSG bonanza! The long-awaited 218, AND the IC cab car (plus upgraded 101- already one of the best locos in the game). And LIRR 2.0 is official, now with more branches and the M9!

    Pretty darn good Roadmap.

Finally a true mainline diesel engine for Germany! Looking forward to add it to my MSB timetable! Also the expert 101 looks promising!

Well, I haven't played the old LIRR in ages, it's so screwed up, so I don't mind paying for its replacement. And I guess that about the only way to get the IC cab car into the game is as a loco DLC, so mating it with something people have asked for for a long time, an "expert" loco, is a decent solution to the marketing problem.

One question I do have: will the 218 come with a modified n-Wagen cab car? They require a different desk to work with diesels.

Very exciting roadmap this time around. The 218 is a lot closer than I had thought and the 101 as the first expert loco. Very nice, indeed.

Good roadmap. Only downside was the Fife Circle part. They basically just told us what we already knew was getting patched…. Hopefully we hear some more tonight in the stream on that one. Nice to see JT and TSG on the roadmap. And the 380 !!!!. Looks amazing so far.

Just Trains UK route, 218 & Pro 101 all sounding great.

The 380 is an utter disappointment though, such a waste of a loco DLC, which we barely get. Should have been kept for a new route. If it finds its way to E2G along with the 158 then I might be more interested, but there was so much more that should have been done with a UK loco DLC.

LIRR 2 seems iffy, the M9 should have just been a loco pack with the route changes included, DTG borked this route with its initial release & then broke it almost completely in TSW 2. Not a chance am I paying £30 to have it fixed.

Fife Circle needs more explanation than what has been offered in the article, as it stands the route is write off & based on that update it isn’t looking to get much better.

Must say this has been by far the best roadmap of this year! Finally awaited, I look way forward to the Lirr extension then any thing tbh.

About the only good thing to take away from this roadmap.

The 380 is utterly disappointing, another one handle, near silent EMU on the ultimate stop/start route that most of us have become bored with. Goes without saying I bet Cathcart hasn't had a makeover including the dire night lighting and stations in pitch darkness.

LIRR - got to say cash grab on that one.

Reworked expert 101 and cab car also looking borderline Gordon Gecko.

No news on the bearded one's route and what's the point of teasing a JT route if they're not prepared to reveal what it is.

Think I will be saving my Steam credit for whatever the big summer reveal is, or more TSC content.

Wow. So honestly, I'm curious if it will be as good as it looks...Now all that's missing is the fix of shrinking textures.

I'm mostly happy with this roadmap, actually.

BR218 is FINALLY coming, and with the updated n-Wagen. TSGs stuff is always fantastic- can't wait!

BR101 expert with cabcar. Pricing will be interesting for sure. What about performance? I trust TSG though, so hopefully they'll deliver!!

LIRR2- unabashedly excited for this. Just PLEASE god let the signalling/dispatching be up to snuff.

Class 380- new train is cool, but honestly if Cathcart doesn't get a TOD4 update, i'll be waiting for a big sale.

Cargo Line 2- looks like they're backtracking on loading/unloading services (it has it in scenarios), which is a shame- hopefully this is on the "core improvements" list somewhere. Still gonna pick this up though.

    New JT route- yes please!!!!

Given the amount of work that's been done on LIRR, it promises to be an entirely new experience.
So from that point of view I think a price of $31-32 seems fair if you have the original version.

Exciting road map. Great to hear that Just Trains are making another route for Train Sim World. The expert 101 and cab car look superb.

    1. For the BR 101:
    - Can you share more about what will be new with the Expert DB BR 101 locomotive?
    - Will the BR 101 come with new IC (InterCity) coaches, and if so, what features can we expect from these coaches?
    - What specific routes or layers will the BR 101 be compatible with? Are there any new routes planned to showcase this locomotive?
    - How does the "Expert loco tier" differentiate the BR 101 from other locomotives in Train Sim World? Are there advanced driving mechanics or simulation features?
    - Given that the BR 101 is being developed by the TSG team, can you elaborate on any unique aspects or enhancements they are bringing to this model?

    2. For the BR 218:
    - What are the distinguishing features of the DB BR 218 that players can look forward to?
    - Will the BR 218 be paired with specific types of coaches or freight cars, and how will these enhance the gameplay experience?
    - Are there any specific scenarios or challenges unique to the BR 218 that will be introduced?
    - What routes will the BR 218 be available on, and how does it integrate with existing or upcoming layers in Train Sim World?
    - Since the BR 218 is also developed by the TSG team, how does their approach to this locomotive compare to their work on the BR 101?

    3. Regarding New IC Coaches and Layers:
    - With the introduction of new locomotives, are there plans to introduce new IC coaches or other types of coaches?
    - How will the new or updated coaches impact the realism and gameplay of Train Sim World? Are there new interior designs or passenger dynamics?
    - For the new routes announced, such as the Semmeringbahn and LIRR Commuter, will there be specific coaches or cars introduced to complement these routes?
    - Can you detail any updates or improvements to existing layers with the spring core update, especially in relation to train formations and coach compatibility?

For me this roadmap is a mixed bag, here are my thoughts:
    • LIRR Commuter is an utter disappointment after such a long wait. Charging full price for a 80% reused route (they haven’t even rebuilt the existing scenery, just tweaked some textures apparently) and a train that may be completely new, but looks 90% identical to the old one inside and out is wild. The fact that the licensors demanded the removal of tons of authentic TSW features from the train and the constant activation of safety systems (which are not used by the large majority of casual players, just horrible for accessibility) doesn’t make it better. I don’t think anyone in the LIRR 2.0 discussion thread imagined it turning out that bad. This route just seems all over the place for me, hopefully it is at least decently polished and bug-free because of the long dev time.
    • The Class 380 will surely give Cathcart a new life, but as many already mentioned when the April Fools teaser was released, it’s also not an overly exciting add-on. Maybe would have been cool if it was accompanied by a new route exploring more of the network surrounding Glasgow, but I can’t imagine many will be willing to spend their cash to drive the services we already know with another rather boring British EMU.
    • The DB BR 218 by TSG is a nice surprise… it’s very unique compared to all the other German locos we have in TSW. Hamburg-Lübeck as the main route for it is a rather unfortunate choice because it’s so unpopular, flat and boring (although Joe’s timetable update a while ago breathed some new life into it). I hope we’ll get to see it on many other routes in the future - and it’s nice to finally get access to the red N-Wagen without having to buy Bremen-Oldenburg.
    • TSG’s Expert BR 101 has me conflicted… on the one hand the idea of an expert loco is fascinating for TSW, and the legendary 101 is a nice choice for this. On the other hand, locking the much-requested cab car behind a niche loco DLC that is mainly targeted at the most professional TSW players is unfortunate to say the least. The increased price for this add-on also doesn’t make sense considering much of the work on the loco was already complete, this isn’t being built from the ground up. To reiterate, I just really don’t like the fact that rolling stock requested by many casuals is being locked behind an add-on that is only meant for a niche group of players.
    • It’s great to hear that Just Trains are working on a new route. I have no doubt it will be spectacular - expectations are possibly higher than ever before after Blackpool Branches! I just hope they pick an interesting time period, location and rolling stock.
    • All these safety-related licensing requests got me worried - LIRR 2.0 and Luzern-Sursee in this roadmap alone! I wonder if anything happened behind the scenes that is causing the licensors to get worried about TSW being too realistic?

Some of these things are answered in the roadmap article especially what makes the 101 expert and what coaches the 218 comes with

Expert DB BR 101 does sound tempting since I don't own the 101. But isn't this just a kick in the teeth for those that do own the DB BR 101 since they would essentially have to rebuy the same train they got just to get the cab car and some updated features which could've been included from the start?

Should be at least 33% discount IMHO for existing owners.

Whole thing is a tad bemusing as I'm sure in the past when asked about route extensions etc., DTG have chanted the mantra that they don't like selling the same DLC twice. Yet here we are with LIRR and the 101 getting exactly that treatment and without a generous discount for those who already bought it.

Good to hear about JT new route thats got me excited! Share the sentiments of the 380 being a bit of a weird dlc choice. There could've been so many better choices (like a UK freight loco). Also good to see cargo line too!

Shame to hear no more on the 104 pack though.

I am very happy to finally see some more loco DLCs being made. On the flip side I don't like the pricing for LIRR 2.0, and I have doubts about the expert 101 being much better, seeing as they are essentially DLCs for DLCs for the people that own the original products.

As a fan of all things German Railway related and also of JT’s work. An excellent Roadmap for me.

Added bonus of Cargo Line 2 from Skyhook. I really enjoyed the first and love to see more and different freight.

So let me get this straight. I have to rebuy the route I already own (LIRR), just to get a short branch line?

When the cab car was teased, everyone thought that it would be for the existing 101 and now we find out it is for a new, super expensive expert version of the 101. That’s the bit that stings. I would 100% expect that there won’t be a discount for having the existing 101 as it is a different developer’s product. TSG may well have had a hand in making the original as a second party subcontractor but this appears to be very much their own release. The two are completely separate. The tease by DTG was a bad move now we know what the details are. It is not on the same level as the Class 380 and maybe should not have been teased in the same way.

The extra features of this expert version are not features that should have been in the original (the cab car maybe should have been included) but rather a deeper level than what is generally required for a good driving experience.

Having said that, I don’t think there is anything wrong with having a completely separate expert model to buy. Many people have been saying they would spend extra money for more detailed locomotives and operations. It sits outside what is generally the standard for TSW and should be seen as such. Where releases like this may cause issues in the future (and I don’t expect too many of them to be honest) is where there isn’t a normal version to buy because they will be prohibitively expensive for the casual player.

    -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

Now onto more pressing matters for my wallet. With the exception of the Class 380 and the new LIRR (which are fine in themselves), everything on the forthcoming DLC list is either highly desirable to me or much anticipated. That 218 and new cab car are making me drool and just the news that JT are working on a new route has me chomping at the bit. Add in all the things we knew about from the last roadmap and all the as yet un-named routes and locos and I’m in for a veritable spendfest for the rest of the year. Then, when they appear in sales, the new LIRR and 380 may well join my overflowing bag of TSW goodies.

    I thought TSG was a one-man show?
There have been previous changes requested by SBB for Luzern-Sursee. I don't think they're related to anything the MTA's demanding, and it's not even clear if they bring it away from reality or towards it.

I really hope the JT route is Metropolitan Line (actually I wish it was MML but that’s already taken) as the TSC version is fantastic and I would like another London Underground route and particularly a cut and cover route with plenty of non-tunnel mileage.

Tsg is a multiperson dev team. It would be easy to assume it is 1 person since maik is the main person behind everything but they still have different employees and former employees from dtg helping with their projects.

The updates coming to luzern sursee are pretty minor. Like colors, switches, etc. it's not major like lirr where they have to remove entire sections of the cab like the circuit breakers or making safety systems mandatory

Really intrigued on the new "expert line" part of the 101. Wonder what we'll get in the future, that will be expert line too.

Really impressive and I wonder how would the expert DB Baureihe 101 work does it substitute on where the existing version runs or not? For the just trains British run I see it as a remake of a train simulator classic route like Hope Valley Line

Issue with substitution would be the cab car. The 101 services don't have a cab car and substitutions don't work once you introduce new things like different consist lengths and cab cars. I haven't watched the roadmap yet but from what I've read so far, they will have more updates later on the services

Don't they? I am pretty sure in Dresden to Chemnitz some services can interchangeably be the BR 612 or a 143+Dostos, often even between resets of the same Journey you're playing!

I have already had my rant about the abysmal decision making on the loco dlc (which should be called a unit dlc, or as things seem to be going a bloody EMU dlc) so I will refrain from saying more about that. But then there is nowt else for me to talk about as the only things which may interest me are DTG's route (and if it is another modern commuter route they can bugger off), Skyhook's aggregates pack, which will bring something interesting to the game, and JT's route, which as before will be of utmost quality but an unknown amount of time away.

Shame not to hear more about the 104's progress, as that will be nice to have in game as it will give a new and different experience to Peak Forest, as 'loco' dlcs should.

Great roadmap, I’m so excited as a DE/AT routes only enthusiast. DB BR 218 is such a storied engine in my opinion, so definetly buying for full price on my PS5 right on release day. DB BR 101 Expert edition also sounds great, I wanted to buy 101 DLC right away in upcomming days to improve my Nahverkehr Dresden experience, but it seems I should wait for this updated version with expert controls and very necessary cab-car. About semmeringbahn Im not that sure, its pretty weird that all the cars behind Taurus locomotive are the same, but the road looks breathtaking so It looks I will buy that too sooner or later ;)

Also, in 4-6 months there is even one more DE Loco! So excited to know which one it’s going to be! And it’s wonderful that this game offers still new experiences for players of German railroads. Thanks!

Simtrack was posiitioned as a tiny studio still learning the ropes, which is why they did the 323 Centro livery first, before moving on to the 104. Now the 104 is languishing in the 'TBC' column while they've added a new DE loco to the 4-6 month column.

Did they just stop working on the 104 because the DE loco was easier?, or is it being held back for the new Just Trains route or something?

No; it's more the case that tiny studios have issues with accurate time budgeting, and they DON'T want to get into the trap - all too common with TSW routes - of being forced by a hard release deadline to put out a route that isn't really finished yet. They'd rather do it like TSG and JT: "You'll get it when it's ready."

Could we have some more info on the layers for LIRR 2.0? Based on the experience of NY-Trenton at launch, I hope the Amtrak & NJT stuff layers in at Penn & Sunnyside Yard?

I heard that number too, but not where all these services are coming from. Do those 1100 include the Amtrak & NJT services?

An exciting roadmap that's for sure, plenty of interesting stuff to look forward too:

    - Ironically though, I'm perhaps most excited that DTG are listening to valued player feedback in regards to looking into adding a small amount of OBB 1116 services to Vorarlberg. :o
    - Superb to hear TSW will finally get a German mainline diesel with the 218 for Hamburg-Lubeck and Maintalbahn and, as these are routes I very much enjoy already, this is very good news indeed.
    - With the BR 101 being my favourite loco, it's finally great to see the long-requested accompanying cab car come to TSW; it's going to be interesting though to see how it will work in timetable mode considering the already plethora of existing 101 services across many routes. Regarding an expert version, not really sure of this yet, so will be interested to hear more.
    - With the initial LIRR route being my most played route when TSW first came out all those years ago, I'm looking forward to LIRR Commuter although I'm waiting for the preview stream before getting too excited.
    - Cargo Line Vol 2 is great just for the fact that it gives older routes more services for timetable mode (GWE especially) so please more of this in general for more routes; elsewhere, can we please finally have a new UK freight loco other than the 66, please?
    - Honestly, one of the only main disappointments from the roadmap is the Class 380. Cathcart is a route I've always found really boring
but a positive that Glasgow Central will at least be more busier I suppose.
    - Glad to hear that Maintalbahn will finally have the 628 appear as AI traffic!
    - And, finally, nothing else to add other than being excited for Semmeringbahn! :)
Appreciate we all have our different tastes, but I highly disagree that Hamburg-Lubeck is both unpopular and boring. For me, it's one of my all-time favourite TSW routes and I'm excited to see this route have much more new gameplay - I hope that it gets a TOD 4 update too!

Any reason why the ATS route is flagless? Error or on purpose..

How come on the social media posts the roadmap image shows a 3rd unnamed US route?
