Wow. I had assumed the diesel railtours on SEHS were long forgotten and we'd never see them again, but it's a pleasant surprise to see them actually return, and with the Class 33 available as well this time. Good job! Looking forward to them. Glad I was wrong on my first assumption. :)

Caboose? IIRC, US freights haven't had cabooses since the early 1990s (the reg requiring them was repealed in 1988).

Some freight trains still use cabooses as they provide better visibility if the train has to do some sort of reversing movement.

  16. Hint for Class 700 being added on ECML Next to SEHS is clear i say no more ECML for Core update this year hope to York but know wont go that far

I find it interesting that the Class 700 gets a whole 7 scenarios. I assume these are all on Southeastern High Speed, which is insane because that route already has a whole 20 scenarios (14 base game, 3 RHTT, 3 ROG). Just wild that the gameplay team manages to get this much out of SEHS.

Great news that there is a time tabled guard scenario for the Gossip line. A new experience to enjoy.

But it's disappointing to see the class 700 not being implemented into other routes. BML , East coast way would greatly appreciate it. £15 after all.

Indeed! The NS local train along Amtrak Keystone corridor has to perform a reversing move either entering or exiting the Cliffs steel mill at Coatesville, PA. Runs with a caboose painted in NS white, but still has the original Conrail reporting marks. I see it all the time- will try to get a pic.

So, with DTG not working on any new routes currently (Glossop is 95% done if it's releasing this month, so just the Class 700 and a German loco), I think TSW4 releasing sooner than later is becoming much more likely. Not taking a position on it either way to be clear.

Not a whole bunch to get excited about tbh- the Class 33 railtour is pretty cool though.

Class 700....it'll make SEHS even better, and nice that it's being added as ECML AI, but still just annoyed it won't come to BML.

NYT upcoming patch is a good thing. Nice that they're getting some freight in there even if it ends up just being AI. LIRR layers, hooray!

What about the promised Achievement Fix for TSW 2 that we have been waiting for almost 2 years ?

Is that part of the remaining TSW 2 Preserved Crew revisions mentioned on the roadmap ?

Not a bad roadmap. Strange we had a thread discussing Guard mode and OMSI style ticket checking, now here it comes. Piqued my interest in Glossop a bit, maybe elevate from "no buy" to "sale buy" at Christmas, depending on feedback.

SEHS certainly seems to be the flagship DTG route... Class 700, well it does look nice, wonder how it sounds?

Note the Rivet fixes but no mention of the dreaded silent coasting/deceleration on the 1938 stock. When are they going to fix that.

MML we generally know about already from the SHG dedicated thread but the rework and update looks promising.

Jewel in the crown is the JT route. Teaser photo screams Wherry Lines to me and BR Classic - Day One purchase for me. Maybe they are doing a Cravens DMU!

Cool we're finally getting a guard mode but apart from that I personally found this roadmap pretty underwhelming. Yes the 700 is looking great but I can't muster any excitement for it if it's not coming to BML. I also can't get excited for the JT route as it's not modern, and everything else is either foreign or a long overdue update.

A great roadmap with some very good fixes listed. This one feels very focussed on getting recent releases up to the right quality standard and that really is appreciated (and will probably result in me buying MML). This might lead me to go back to BRO and LFR a bit more often now :)

The community was afraid we'd just see the next summer release announced (very much including me), but instead you chose to first fix what needed fixing, showing that DTG does learn :)

Also the crompton layers on SEHS might actually make me buy it, as I was never interested in running it on WSR which wasn't my piece of cake, but I am very interested in running it on railtours.

Also interesting to see BR 204 fixes after such a long time, but I am very happy with them.

I'm also excited for the new German loco, the JustTrains route and class 700, but mpst of all dor the Trenton timetable.

US railroads will keep a few cabooses on the roster in case of special circumstances. These cabooses are often called shoving platforms by modern railroads. These are kept in case the train has to back up over multiple grade crossings, or travel long distances in reverse and no run around track is available.

This particular train uses cabooses in real life due to complex reverse maneuvers:
    1.jpg
    2.jpg

My suggestion for making this service more realistic:
A: Use the caboose from Clinchfield: Not correct era, and would need additional add-ons to play, but is slightly more true to life.
B: Find a spot on the map where the train could safely make a run-around
C: Make it so the service runs with a locomotive on each end (top and tail) like how the RHTT train operates. US railroads will often use this method for locals if no run around track or caboose is available.

This specific train running with a locomotive on each end:
    3.jpg

Different US local using the same practice:
    4.jpg

Hope these examples and suggestions help since running a freight train several miles in reverse on the Northeast Corridor would be extremely dangerous and wouldn't happen in real life.

    Wow … just wow

NYT is becoming the route I dreamt it would be. Two thumbs up. If I had more thumbs they’d be up too.

    fantastic fantastic work.

the rest of the roadmap is all good news and exciting but for me nothing compares to the nyt timetable!

I’m excited for the 700 the Mml updates the new route and even the guard duty. I want to drive the train but I’ll have a go as a guard.

Looks like the baby bullet will be at the top of the list soon too.

    thank you dtg!!!

oh and DTG JD are you gonna let them call you out like that with those stopping boards????

I won’t be live on the stream as it’s my work day and I’ll be in a meeting but I’ll have 75 mins of rush hours nj traffic to sit in on my way home to listen to it.

Forgot to mention the linke red light issues. I’ve had several issues in the timetable with this. I’m glad this is a high priority. It’s fun until you’ve gone an hour and can’t pull into the station to end the run. It’s frustrating to not have a path out when you start a service. I’m glad that’s coming.

Very, very excited for the Class 700! The interior and destinations screens do look very good and realistic so far, which is fantastic. From the first screenshot though, not sure if my imagination or not, but the train number on the front of the 700 (700058) in TSW looks slightly smaller than in reality. Anyway, loving the addition of the new 700 signage for SEHS, I was hopeful such would be included with the 700's arrival as it would of been strange without.

While I love the addition of the 700 to SEHS, I really hope we get a brand-new route for longer Thameslink services though; I also hope DTG can sort out the much-needed optimisation for London Commuter and finally get the 700 which is so synonymous with the real-life Brighton Main Line - plus with the AI-only 700 ECML traffic for SEHS too, again I hope this means having the train elsewhere! Elsewhere, for a loco DLC, I'm still slightly surprised how long the 700 has been since announced and yet still in production for a while longer - I'm certainly not complaining, but I do wonder if there's more to it than just 80 services to SEHS?

In the roadmap when regarding the new stop signs for Thameslink, it mentions:
    • FLU – this is the stopping board for the Full Length Unit (the 12-car 700/1, while this isn’t included, and FLU’s don’t run the Rainham service, the boards are still present throughout Medway in reality for futureproofing). Highlighted in bold, but is that a possible hint for the for the 700/1 to TSW someday?
Finally, nice to see some new diesel railtour additions to the ever-expanding SEHS timetable (though I wish some other UK routes would get so much love regarding their timetables!).

While I didn't have as much excitement for the Glossop Line due to the route potentially being just a shorter, mostly one-loco route, though I'm extremely happy to see EMT 158s as AI meaning the route won't at least feel completely deserted, and I'm at least glad with the addition of a guard mode (well technically part of a scenario, but nice still nonetheless) to make the route somewhat unique at least; now if guard mode was part of the actual timetable mode for any future routes that would be epic! To conclude, after today's roadmap, the Glossop Line does sound a bit more interesting.

Meanwhile, I'm super glad the NY-Trenton route is getting a timetable it finally deserves. I very much look forward to getting this route once it has been updated, and a big thanks to Joe for including more shorter 5-10-minute services like that of London Commuter - it certainly makes the timetable busier and more varied so thank you and hope to see more like this in the future! Also, the addition of LIRR traffic at Penn is brilliant (now I'd love to actually see the original LIRR route in TSW updated, though I understand it would be complex) hopefully it should rival London Victoria for busyness!:o I, and many others here on the forum, have been requesting more Rush Hour-type routes for ages with epic timetables for long-term gameplay, and I really hope this certainly fulfills this rather than more empty, forgettable one-loco routes.

Elsewhere, I appreciate DTG have been super busy as of late, however it's a shame to not see any further older routes get a TOD 4 lighting/skies upgrade, so many decent routes that are crying out for such *Cough* London Commuter *Cough*.

All-in-All, one of the best roadmaps for me in a long-time! :)

Some thoughts on the key notes of this roadmap.
    • I'm not that enthusiastic about the upcoming Glossop Line add-on (Screams of filler route for whatever the big summer thing is) but I can at least appreciate the fact that the team is trying to make the best possible route experience out of it with the various layers the route will seemingly have (I was one of those kina hoping the EMT Class 158 would make an appearance here, like it does in real life, so I'm glad that's happening), kinda like it's sister route, Birmingham Cross-City. Also intrigued about how the guard scenario will play out, could actually be a bit fun there.
    • This roadmap did confirm what we already thought and that it's only the 8-car 700/0 and not the 12-car 700/1 as well. To be honest, this situation reminds me alot of why there's no cab car with the DB BR 101. Ignoring all the routes it layers into, if you just simply looked at the route it's for (Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr) you don't really need it, as every service goes in one end and comes out the other side (it only becomes an issue when you try to add it to a route with a big terminal service like München - Augsburg, which you can work around, even if it's not the most ideal situation). Here it's the fact that the 12-car version doesn't come here anyways, which is fine in the context of SEHS, but maybe not-so if you want to add this to Brighton Main Line (which also worth mentioning, only the 12-car version ever shows up there). I mean, you could just take this variant and have it do all the Thameslink services there, but would it look right? I don't know. But regardless, even if it's a bit of a bummer, I still look forward to it regardless, and hey, it also seems like it add the AI ECML Thameslink service as well, adding to what is already the best area for AI services on any TSW to date.
    • Great to see that diesel railtour services are back in SEHS, and in some cases, even better than what they were on TSW2. Also, forget about adding a railtour using the Class 33 add-on, I would love to see an actual BR-era route that had a Class 33 as one of it's anchor locos
(I did suggest a route like that not too long ago on this forum, if you don't mind this shameless plug here).
    • From having checked the steamdb lately, I'm starting to get a good idea as to what route that German Loco Add-On is for, but that's for another time.
    • It really now looks like New York-Trenton will become the route it always had the potential to be, with the new freight services (even if they are AI only) and not to mention the LIRR layer around New York Penn (feel like that station could now be the US equivalent of London Victoria on Brighton Main Line, maybe). On the subject of freight, I also holding out for maybe some AI services on those freight lines/large yards you see around the top portion of the route between New York, Secaucus & Newark (or at the very least, static freight stock), but let's wait and see on that.
    • EDIT on previous part: Also worth bringing up, is it too much to ask about maybe, finally expanding the existing LIRR timetable, even if it requires ripping it to shreds and starting over? Maybe it's a stretch, but considering that the LIRR AI timetable is seemingly going to be bigger than what the base route could ever be, it might be something worth considering.
    • Feel like the GWE HST livery support has been long overdue, but regardless of when it comes out, I should hopefully be worth the wait. Also curious about what improvements they plan to make to that route.
    • Looking forward to seeing the improvements to Midland Main Line. Considering how disastrously it's release went, hopefully this can finally make it be the route it always had to potential to be.
    • At this point, I'm pretty confident that new Just Train route is the leaked Preston-Blackpool route, but let's and see. Hopefully we do get a proper announcement on that soon.

Just to confirm, the 8-car Class 700/0 does serve the Brighton Main Line in reality on some of the Bedford services to Brighton etc - however, the 12-car /1 does serve a majority of all remaining Thameslink services. So, to answer your question, having the 700/0 for London Commuter would not feel out of place, although I'd argue it would only be more realistic for the /0 with some of the Bedford services. Then again, if for memory reasons, I'd quite happy have the entire Thameslink timetable in London Commuter be served by the /0 if it means having it at all.

From what I can see New York Trenton is getting busy almost like how it is in real life except for the missing Amtrak long distance services which require a Viewliner II carriages. Speaking of the class 700 it needs to be future-proof for BML Scenarios once it's memory issues are fixed since the eight car version tends to run from Brighton to Bedford via Gatwick and Luton airports. For the Just Trains route I see it as the Calder Valley Line West Blackpool to Hebden Bridge via Preston.
3.DKK L7 01 I see this as the following DR Baureihe 230 DB BR180 Nahverkehr Dresden Hollandstrecke Duisburg/Bochum Arnhem DB BR189 Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen DB Baureihe 408 ICE3M Neo Hauptstrecke München Augsburg DB Baureihe 183 Neu alt paint ÖBB Baureihe 1216 and lastly Rhein-Ruhr Osten DB Baureihe 193 Siemens Vectron.

A very good roadmap overall with the highlight being JT's route which, after too long of a wait, will bring BR diesels in a new route again. I think this could be a mid 80s route and although I'd love a 1st gen DMU I think we could be looking at a pacer. As WonterRail says above I am quite sure it will be Preston to Blackpool with the pacer hints and the hills too high for Norfolk in the background of the screenshot and I think in the last road map it was confirmed to go to a terminus and a seaside location has also been hinted.

After this the MML route upgrade is what I am looking forward to most as it's currently a decent route but I think this could make it one of the best in game. Also it's great that Jane from Skyhook has been updating us throughout the making of the patch to keep us up to speed.

The 700 and Glossop line are two things I will most likely pick up but aren't things I am too excited about even though they look nice. Glossop should have been done as the Woodhead line in the 70s really, but, oh well. The 700 I feel will be a very good unit but my interest in commuter rail just isn't big enough to be too excited by it, though I feel that the 700/1 won't be far behind, possibly as part of the summer release.

Things are certainly looking good for me in the next few months with some interesting releases.

Thank you for telling me about this since I am quite familiar with what they look like in real life.

I have to say the Class 700 is looking great and nice to see that the pantographs on it are usable on routes with overhead wires. Also it's interesting reading about a new guard scenario on the Glossop Line so I may purchase it when it comes out. :)

DTG Alex can you tell us why we read nothing on TSW2 DLC Rush Hour - Nahverkehr Dresden.
Specifically anything on the Dresden Commuter achievement. Which is non functional ever since release. Shy of two years ago!
We keep hearing it’s on the radar, the teams aware of the problem, not an easy fix and all that.
It would be nice to finally receive some good news, you know, tell us about the process. Anything. Just don’t leave us hanging!
After all this time any update or roadmap without anything on this issue is just a slap in the face for customers who actually paid for this DLC. I’m sure you’ll understand.

Yeahhh - here are no bugs, the game is great, but here's a conductor simulator for you - this is what we really all lacked! (nope)
