Any ideas regarding routes to be added to this new release in a couple of months time and what changes to TS2021 will we see?

Will we see the usual three routes package, one each from UK, USA and Germany. Personally I think I would rather see an Australian, Scandinavian and a Dutch route included or places not ventured before!

I hope the routes are announced before the Steam summer sale ends during the first week of July.

According to numbers mentioned in the Steam forums a while ago the US, Germany and Britain together account for about a third of the market for TS. TS2017 added a French route to that and and now there are regional editions which seems like a positive step but I doubt Dovetail will mess around with the formula too much.

One tweak I'd like to see (since about 15 minutes after I first started driving in TS2016 actually) is clearing on-screen messages with a key press rather than having to drag the mouse around.

Another UK route should be due out around the time of a TS2022 release so that's almost a given.
I suspect the fastload update might become standard instead of optional as-is currently (optional as a way to mass test it).
I would like to see some more options in the settings as mentioned here:

Im more wondering what US route will be included. Since none have been released this year by DTG so far and the last one was the NEC: Washington-Baltimore route, released at the end of 2020.

Unless something new comes out -
UK route would be Cross City
US route would be NEC: Washington-Baltimore route - or a freight route.
German route would be the Dresden - Reisa

I don't see any routes coming out for other countries as it all comes down to having a license and creating new assets.
In the three releases above the only new trains were the Class 323 units on Cross City - everything else is old stock.

Agree, it seems a very electrical bundle (making up for the TS2021) but those are the kind of routes that had been packed for the latests TS20XX editions (short routes). I wonder how will the special editions be, maybe a deluxe one with a new route and older stuff for US/UK/etc editions as usual.

The UK route for the last couple of years has come with a steam loco to show off that driving aspect I guess. So that could be a clue.

Those are my guesses for the German and UK routes, So I hope you are correct. I've been holding off getting them in the hope they'll be in the 2022 bundle. I have no idea on a US Route, not my thing.

It will likely be NEC - Washington to Baltimore, Riesa Dresden and Cross City. But it could have something more right, a deluxe version like the 2021 version. I would like it to have the Great Western Main Line.

There are two Great Western Mainline routes.
One is quite old from 2012
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/208301/Train_Simulator_Great_Western_Main_Line_Route_AddOn/
and the other is by Just Trains and would not be included in a DTG release.

I am holding off buying these routes in case they are included. Have been caught with this before. As soon as they announce the content of TS2022, I will purchase these routes if not in the release of TS2022. I am sure there is a lot of people waiting too.

My guesses would be as follows:

UK would be a toss between Suburban Glasgow or Birmingham Cross City
Germany would be a toss between Berlin - Koblenz or Dresden - Reisa
US would be a toss between the Hanover Sub, NEC Washington - Baltimore or Arizona Divide.

if a deluxe edition was to happen maybe they'd throw in either the Tadami line or the New Zealand Midland line.

Wishful thinking, but still, would be cool either way.

    Lowest expectations:

    - No meaty core update
    - Scottish, German & US routes
    - Deluxe includes Birmingham cross

What the firm should be aiming for:

    - a proper core update (the DX update)
    - Whatever routes (3 as usual)
    - Deluxe to include something that really pushes the boundaries of expectations.

    It's not hard, is it?

We will never get the DX update. They have said many times that we won’t get anymore major core updates as it’s too risky that it’ll break DLC’s.

Sad but seems it is hard and it’s not ever coming. But I’d be more sad if half my DLC didn’t work. Some of it is in a pretty poor state to start with!

Quite honestly, if it were done properly, nothing would get broken.

Or maybe the Baltimore to Philadelphia line? But first I think they should renew the rolling stock since 2011.

We could say that about a lot of what DTG produces. As they released Frankfurt Koblenz (The last DLC I bought) with broken signalling a holes in the scenery which haven’t even been acknowledged let alone fixed, I don’t fancy the chances of a DX upgrade having a happy result.

    Berlin - Koblenz?
Is that something proposed as it is quite a long route, around 600km, with no direct service

If they try putting Frankfurt Koblenz in the bundle before fixing it, then they are crazy. The signalling is wrong, speed limits are wrong, there are holes in the scenery and AI collisions in the scenarios. The Loco is good though.

I’m pretty tolerant of bugs, but this was a really bad DLC. Pretty to look at in places, but very buggy.

Recently there are Big Boy and the South Devon line dlc released, many of new dlc releasing, but the old lines still like that, the old tunnels still raining, and the memory still out of. Why just attention on the new and ignore the old? Why don't take a look on the existing routes and cars, and make some maintenance on it? Is the profit is just from selling the new dlc? Making new dlc is not wrong. But the existing route and cars can also be better, make the both old and new brilliant, let the player have good experience, and have good image on the company, this is the corporate image, it is a priceless assets.

I doubt it will happen, but it would be nice if some of the original routes were brought up to modern modern standards.

I would buy them again if the quality was good.

Well let’s hope that the Schuster signals license was for more that one route. Dresden Riesa had excellent signalling. Up there with the very best German routes. The route itself was a HUGE leap forward in regards to German DTG routes.

As I drive a Quick Drive from West Hampstead Thameslink to St. Pancras International, at the West Hampstead, there was a red light for 5 minutes and still not change. Is I make a Quick Drive for just sit there to watch the red light? The game need a patch.

For TS2022, I really hope Metro North's Harlem line gets implemented as that is the only main east of Hudson Line that has not been featured for the Metro North Railroad. There is also the diesel territory of Metro North and it's branch line shuttles. I would also like to see the Long Island Railroad come to TS2022

I mean, what's the probability dovetail will have a new US route for TS2022? not very likely unless we see something this month.

For TS2019, the Norfolk Southern N-Line was released June 7th, and was part of the TS2020 bundle later that year.

As far as stats go of former US routes that were part of the yearly bundle since TS2013.....

    Route Original Release Date
    TS2021:Clinchfield: _____________May 7th, 2020
    TS2020: N-Line: _______________June 7th, 2019
    TS2019: Soldier Summit Extension: May 17th, 2018
    TS2018: Peninsula Corridor:______ Dec 15th, 2016
TS2017: North Jersey Coast Line:__ Oct 7th, 2015
    TS2016: Sherman Hill: ___________Sep 20th 2012
    TS2015: New York New Haven : ___April 10th 2014
    TS2014: Donner Pass: ___________Dec 21st 2012
    TS2013: Sherman Hill: ___________Sep 20th 2012

Going by that logic then, ideal contenders for the US route to be apart of TS 2022 would be the CSX Hannover Sub, NEC Washington to Baltimore or Arizona Divide.

2 of those are 3rd party routes, which would not be including in the base game, leaving NEC Washington as the only canidate ATM.

All this assumes DTG repeats the format of previous years. I'm beginning to get worried that the annual core update and set of three bundled routes may be coming to an end. At some point that will happen. Maybe once Trackside Walker gets steam locos that will be the end of development for TS202X?

Instead of just complaining about a problem Report it to the DTG Helpdesk
A problem reported gets a ticket and a place in the queue
But a complaint on a General Forum won't get anything done

I have reported about the AI collision, doors can't open, and the wrong size of cars to the helpdesk, but so what? It still like that.

Did you think that faults get fixed the next day/week/month?
They have to test what you reported and then work out what is going wrong then fix it

I reported a problem a few weeks back with AI on a route and we are waiting a fix
And an even bigger problem I reported with the TGV TWO YEARS AGO, March 2019 actually, and we are still waiting a fix.

They're right, Tehachapi is listed on the change list for the Achievements......

Wonder how 3d Trains is gonna feel about this, their Tehachapi Loop has been in WIP for years.....

Also now I'm wondering what Era it will be set in, Southern Pacific or Union Pacific?

I'm pretty sure that even if TP became a 1st party route, everyone has and would still use the existing one, as DTG wouldn't go above maybe 40-50 miles, while 3DTrains has over 100 miles covered.

Minimum, the route i would expect to be about 65-70 miles as this would cover Bakersfield to Mojave.

Might very well be true for those that already have it, the more interesting thing is how it will impact future sales of it. 3DTrains is kind of obscure as is, they're not anywhere near as well known as Armstrong Powerhouse by any means, they're not even on the level of Searchlight Simulations. Personally the only reason I know of that route is because Fan Railer did a few videos with it, not saying they're completely unknown mind you, just that they're kind of obscure compared to many others. So there's gonna be many more casual people who aren't gonna be aware of it, and thus will buy it thinking it's the only version of it.

Honestly if any current route for the game negatively impacts sales for it I think Arizona Divide and Raton Pass would do so more. They're the closest in terms of general feel, have some interesting, if mediocre stock, and at least with AD is much longer than anything DTG make now.

I hope they'll do SP era, Donner's locos seem pretty dated and it would be good to have nicely redone locos (at least reskins). Also we have Livonia, Kansas-Topeka, Sherman Hill, so another modern day UP route is not needed

I definitely agree on that, the default paint on DPs stock is really poor, especially when you compare them to the SD70M DLC Reppo's GP20 or DTMs SD45T-2, SD45 and the upcoming U30C/U33C. They all visually look better.

One thing though is if the route will have a locomotive DLC for it, as pretty much all of Southern Pacific's modern 6-axle power has been covered, unless they want to dive into the Morris Kunderson SD40M-2 rebuilds or go into the 60s for ideas.

There is also the option for 4 axle power as well such as the B36-7, B39-8 or GP60, but these mostly spent their time on the Sunset Route.

The only difference is the DTG version would be complete - the 3d Trains has been WIP for a long time

I subscribed to it and every so often I look at it but nothing seems to change with signals and track floating in mid-air

I feel like the opposite could happen, especially if the route is set in the Southern Pacific Era, as the Southern Pacific granted Santa Fe trackage rights thru the pass from Mojave to Bakersfield, so those who want a more prototypical experience would own at least one of the Santa Fe routes.

It would also open up the idea for High Iron Simulations to make a pack for Tehachapi using content from Raton or Arizona.
