Hello, This year I was wondering, is TS classic going to be the last version of TS, or will we see TS2023 at some point? Thank you
I wonder if DTG will ever change the default routes that come with TSC.... I must have bought the game at least a half dozen times to get the routes included with the latest version of TSC at a great price....Anyone have any info/ideas on this?
Based on what information? Don't worry. Maybe DTG themselves will focus even more on TSW (checking the forums they have an awful lot of work to do), but remember that TSC is and has always been open to 3rd party devs like Milepost, RSSLO, Just Trains, Creative Rail, Union Workshop, G-Trax, VNHRR and others who were and are still developing official DLC.
No information, just based on few released routes in the last time by DTG. 3rd party creators will keep developing things for TSC hopefully. By DTG, I suspect that the Leipzig extension is going to be the last thing oficially released by them, but I hope they prove me wrong
So you have no information to say there won't be any new routes from DTG. You are just spreading false rumours
I'm pretty sure that Jamie has stated that there will still be content produced for TSC by DTG and I'm also sure I read it in one of their articles about TSC.
Is DTG still producing TS content? Yes. Will there be refreshes to the routes included in TS? Maybe (haven't seen confirmation nor denial). Will the name of the game change? No.
I do wonder how long DTG will stay committed to TSC. It's standard price has dropped to £19.99 and if you look at the difference in activity between this form and TSW's it's stark. Still, make hay while the sun shines I suppose.
TSW is still £24.99 in DTG's store, whereas TS2022 is £19.99. They don't seem to have got around to renaming it TSC yet in their store!
For what it's worth there are at least 4 more routes for TS1 being developed, one in the later stages, one just starting, and two more routes in the future - but I can't say what or where (I won't tell anyone who thinks pm'ing me will get answers), but just saying the above showing that there is still work on TS1 (or TS Classic as it's now known - TS1 is just the internal name, just like TSW is TS2)
That is good to hear Danny. It might help quieten the naysayers who think DTG have finished creating routes/trains for game. Peter
Im assuming the whole BNSF license thing slowed up development of routes? Because it's almost been a year since the last DTG developed North American route (Tehachapi Pass June 24th 2021)
Even if nothing new released for TSC, I still have a huge back catalogue to purchase now I’ve weaned myself off TSW. West Somerset (needed for the Wycombe Lines freeware), Marches and North Wales Coast to name but three. Then a vast selection of steam locos from BMG, VW and Caledonia to buy along with Matrix coaches.
As far as i'm aware it hasn't - Tehachapi was released before the announcement of the BNSF License worldwide i believe.
And that’s just DTG. These are third party payware projects: RSSLO have several German/Austrian route projects. The developer who built Frankfurt UBahn is building the Hamburg UBahn. RWA is building the Wien network. B42Rail is working on the extension to Zürich - Olten.
I just find it quite strange that there is such a huge gap between NA routes from DTG, hopefully that means that some issues I've had with past routes (Like the overuse of the Kuju/RSC stock) as well as route quality overall get improved due to longer development time. (Something that has helped both Milepost and HIS)
Unless you're the kind of player that restrict themselves to just purchasing a route, playing the 6 or so career scenarios, and then wait for the next release, I am perfectly fine with longer development times - especially for DTG which are known to have big QA issues. Did I mention the Tehachapi ES44? Still not fixed with their patch, although it's just one line in the blueprint...
Plenty to come with TSC, from both 1st and 3rd Party, and core updates are being looked into, when we have more information on routes we will update you all.
How many times has it been said on this forum that the game cannot be updated to DX11/12 without breaking some of the add-ons. Unless something has change recently
Speaking of which, I believe there should of been an article posted yesterday for HISs Penn Central Pack.
There already is a third party “workaround hack-ish” thing that allows DX9 games to run on DX11 framework. The exact same thing was said about 64bit.
Let's wait for things to come. I remember someone made a brilliant patch for the classic DeusEx game (which I admire) to upgrade the rendering from DX7 to DX10. So nothing is impossible. Of course you'd have to update all the shaders to see a visual improvement - but that also can be accomplished, by DTG or the community (see RWEnhancer).
I could live without any visual improvements tbh. Wouldn’t mind them ofcourse. Performance improvements and bug fixes (like the page two freezing in quick drive AI train spawnpoints bug) would be nice.
Why so pessimistic? Riesa-Leipzig came with the new naming bundle. Routes can change out from time to time. Surely other stuff is being made.
It would still be nice to see the editor get some love, more user friendly (thinking Trainz Surveyor especially for terrain painting, copy/paste/rotate etc.) and as I’ve mentioned previously a 2D scenario/timetable editor which doesn’t require every train to be individually placed and configured.
You forget that TSW2 is heavily developed for Consoles nowadays, so, that's probably why there is so much activity on their forum, and not on here! Cheerz. Steve.
Isn't that something that supports my point? But even if you look at just the PC section of the forum it seems much more active than here. And a lot more anguished! They're not happy with the long unfixed bugs and the new first steam route hasn't delighted everyone. In any case look at the total messages for TSC and TSW. TSC is outnumbered 5:1, which shows where the centre of gravity is moving to.
That just says the add-ons have more problems than those in TS Classic. The number of posts does not equate to a better product
I have steadily been finding my way back to TSC from TSW. Longer routes, better lighting, better train assets all have considerable appeal. I was watching Alan Thomson's review of the Marches Line on YT this morning and that confirmed my "must buy" decision when the Steam sale starts (hopefully) in just over a week. There is simply nothing like that in TSW. On the surface TSW has some good things going for it, the ability to walk round in the world and on trains, ride as a passenger, the all day timetable etc. However in truth 95% of your time is still spent in the cab driving with the free roam "8" view still more useful for shunting and changing points than getting down and walking to the location. As regards the all day timetable, that falls flat on its face with the unreliable save function and the fact you can only have one save across the whole game let alone each route or scenario, as we can in TSC. There is no worthwhile editor to create your own scenario and custom consists, so the whole thing is effectively locked down to what DTG want to give the end user.
Compare the PC forum there to the entire TS1 forum. Compare the user numbers on Steam for both games. Yes, there's also Epic Games, which gave the core game away for free, but that's like looking at console data. None exists for TSC. So you can't just say "TSW is more popular than TSC on consoles". Well, duh? TSC is not and will not be developed for consoles - at least not to our knowledge. If it ever is, I guarantee you it will have a foothold there competing with TSW. But I don't think it's feasible. After all, DLC for the game is way more than the storage device of a PS5 can hold.
I think TSW appeals to younger gamers, who are used to easily accessible games, with guided tutorials (press W to move forward - Achievement earned LOL) and modern graphics. I presume the average TSC player is a bit older. I'm 47.
"Achievement: returned to the game after over a year absent." This is real, in fact. Paraphrasing the wording, mind.
