As I was making a video using Train Simulator Classic footage, I noticed something unusual that hasn't happened before in previous videos I made of it. When I put it through my video editor (CyberLink Power Director 12) the rendered footage is way darker than in the actual game. I don't seem to recall changing any settings that made this occur. This is a glaring issue for night shots. I also use Fraps for my ingame recording software.

I noticed that this issue only happens with Train Simulator Classic footage. It does not happen with real-world footage that was recorded on my camera. What should I do to make the rendered footage have the same lighting and coloring as the raw gameplay footage? I have attached screenshots of the same image. One is of the raw gameplay footage (the lighter-looking one), and the other is of the rendered footage (the darker-looking one).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Generally, bit rate and color filters can play a role.
My own videos are simply washed out. Original Fraps was nice, any MKV is worse and then Youtube makes them Grey All Around.
Under normal circumstances dark colors are simply not visible and depending on the encoder, can be cut out. I noticed with old (AVI) videos how night scenes are terribly low fidelity.

Here is the histogram of your brighter shot which effectively qualifies as black. In a dark room with a bright monitor (like LCDs where black is actually gray) it can be visible.

And here is the darker one:

Clearly compressed away bit if you flip-flop the two you'll notice the bright ones are pretty much there.

As for the rest, just Google something like "your video editor dark scene quality".

Thank you for taking the time to respond and make the histograms of each image Triznya. Sorry if my response was later than expected. Are there any changes I can make to any of the settings so I can make the rendered footage look just like the raw footage again?
