Yes mate, likely in two flavours; tamping and non-tamping. And a dummy vehicle for consists.
OMG just watched your video. This is totally insane.
It puts DTG, AP etc. to shame, the level of detail, especially when in rear cab watching the tamping, both through the window and on the screens, takes TS to a new level.
Just one small request: please can it have a static shadow under it as most rolling stock does? Where there isn't one the track just doesn't look right underneath.
There is one there believe it or not but you're right - it needs just making that bit darker. It'll be sorted prior to release. All feedback is always very welcome - without it how can we do better?
Shadow under the tamper darkened considerably - for contrast the last pic shows the trailer with no shadow applied. These pics were taken at dusk - the brighter the sun, the darker the shadows appear in the game world.
This is probably a better shot of the underneath shadow...
You can see inside the engine bay meshing nicely too
For those that missed it, the tamper got a great preview on the ATS twitch stream last night
Progress marches on, the vehicle is ready in it's player driven state, the dummy is also done (looks nice being dragged along as part of a consist) - and I'm in the middle of sorting out the AI tamping only vehicle.
That just leaves a few standard scenarios to piece together and the hefty manual to write
Look forward to it.
AI that only tamps ballast is done. Time to call it a day
I'm knackered just reading about it... Time for a Guinness or 3...??? Lol...
If your buying I'll have a Greene & King IPA ta!
Just finished writing the manual just the scenarios to do.
Make em devious Dunc.
The manual is written already??? That was quick...!!!
First scenario is done - a little bit devious as requested.
Nearly time to start on the 104 then!
You spelt 47 wrong.
You both spelt sleep wrong
Guinness THEN sleep.
Good news, business plan has been approved (can start trading now) - tamper is packed (player driven, dummy and AI that tamps - release candidate v2.1), with manual and 3 scenarios for the ECMLS.
The distributor should be picking it up this afternoon, release date to follow soon™ .
It's nearly here Excited I am LOL
It's up: https://alanthomsonsim.com/product/gold-star-trains-dr73106-ballast-tamper/
So... When you having a sale Duncan?..
Be a while, though there is a member discount... for a year or so of dev time, she's pretty cheap as it is.
Going to rest up today, all this excitement has fried me
Omg it's amazing
Mucho Thankyou for bringing this to TS, well appreciated.
"OOOh.............., A Tamping we will go, a Tamping we will go, ee - aye - addio, A Tamping we will go."
Only just had time to give this a proper go, it is totally insane, this level of detail surpasses pretty well everything I have come to expect from TS, how the heck you synchronized the monitor screens to the actual tamping mechanism defies belief.
You sir are a genius, stand up and take a bow. Well done.
I'll grab that month end Dunc.
Right, you've had a night's sleep... There's a class 104 to be getting on with I believe East Lancs Railway have a few you could record and photograph.
On a serious note... I'm up that way if you need imagery, and I also happen to be a professional photographer. I'd be glad to help if I can.
Go for it mate
When you are ready to create it, I shall if it is helpful. Let me know when you are ready and I'll contact them and see if they are willing to help, unless you would rather talk to them... some people like to be in control of anything that requires a little diplomacy. Either way... let me know when you're ready to go and I'll put pen to paper.
Thank you very much indeed mate!
Just got this and it looks fantastic (although a very clean machine!), thank you!
Maybe add some keyboard shortcuts to the manual for quick reference?
Yep, there'll be an update on the manual sometime this week. For your reference:
L : Tamping control key
E/Shift + E: Gear selector
B/Shift + B: Hazards
C/Shift + C: Tamping machine on/off
V: Wipers (Upper only)
Z: Engine start/off (in conjunction with the engine control key)
Everything else is controlled by switches. Hope this helps.
For a year's work, I'd say 13 quid odd is exceptional value for money, I wish you well Dunc in your venture, now going to give it a go, thanks for doing this, it was something that was sorely needed in the sim.
Thank you mate, it's a loss-leader, but should show the intention of what's to come in terms of quality and value
I hope you are getting a fair share from Allan too.
A daft question but how do you get into cab 2?
Looking excellent. I will get it when I have replaced my hard drive.
If you are doing a class 104 next I will be more excited than the most excited person on earth!
CTRL and + to switch cabs, passenger view (5) to sit in tamper operators chair.
Anything else I can help with just let me know
Just a quick post to announce that I'm in the middle of an update for DR73106...
- It will include the fastline livery.
V2.7 release notes will follow soon
Could I ask a favour on behalf of the whole re-skinning community, a request they don't even know they want till they read this post..
Could you possibly provide a plain white skin template so we can go ham with our Anime (oops forgot this isn't TSW2) I mean Fetwork Nail, Colarse, Ballsfor Betty and Stobrat Fail reskins?
I'll see what I can do
Just for anyone that might want a copy and have to wait for payday - which sucks every time, 5 copies of the tamper will be given away throughout the ATS stream tonight.
And yep Reef, I think labeling each specific part might help with the plain white textures (perhaps with light shading baked into the alphas or something).
Absolutely this, I'm embarrassed I left that bit out tbh..
An example (robbed from the interwebs as all my ETS2 stuff got lost in the great PC disaster at the beginning of the year)
I can sort that out
dunkrez, I suggest you start a separate thread. The title of this one does not promote the product!
Separate names with a comma.
