    December's 'Development Insight':

I'm going to do a monthly development insight into one mod I release within the current month (e.g. December for this one) whether it has released or not to explain what goes on behind-the-scenes ;).

    This Month's Case Study: (TG08) 2D87 NUN-NOT (170)

We chat to the OP of this thread, TrainGeek08, to talk about the scenario (below) '(TG08) 2D87 NUN-NOT (170)', that will release next week as part of the MML 2003 Scenario Pack :o.

Why did you pick this scenario specifically?

TrainGeek08: "It is one of, if not my favourite scenario in the upcoming pack. And plus, I haven't done a development insight on a scenario in a while, so thought 'why not?', so here we are!"

How frequent is the AI in the scenario?
TG08: "The AI is pretty frequent throughout. As it uses the May 2003 WTT, it means that the AI is as accurate as per it was in 2003. You see a train every 5 minutes at least."

What reference material did you use to fully capture what the MML was like back in 2003?
TG08: "I used the September 2002 (for Scenarios 1 and 4), May 2003 (for Scenarios 2 and 5) and September 2003 (for Scenarios 3 and 6) WTTs in order to complete the scenarios, and (along with some appropriate CC liveries) make them as realistic as possible for the era."

How long does the scenario play for?
TG08: "The scenario plays for around 35 to 40 minutes. This duration is what I deem 'acceptable' for a decent scenario. My general rule of thumb is that 30 to 60 minutes is a decent scenario duration; anything shorter or longer is what I deem 'boring'."

Is this the best scenario within the pack in your opinion?

TG08: "It's a toss-up between this one and scenario 2 (6M87 Mountsorrel) but if I had to pick between the two; I would say this one takes it, because it is longer and it explores more of the route instead of the short stub between Leicester and Mountsorrel."

In the announcement, you said that the player sits at Leicester for 10 minutes at the start. Firstly, why is this? And secondly, do you think it will harm the subscriber count for that scenario?

TG08: "Two questions in one? You're optimistic today! Firstly, it is scheduled to wait for around 30 minutes at Leicester (from when it arrives from Nuneaton to when it leaves for Nottingham) in order for higher priority Midland Mainline traffic to overtake. Imagine being on a 125mph-capable HST and held behind a 100mph-capable Turbostar... Secondly, this part has it's pros and cons. Whilst it could allow for players to get some screenshots or do a bit of spotting before departing, it also comes down to how long your attention span is and if you can handle waiting for 10 minutes. Luckily, there is AI there during the wait, so at least there's something."

Thanks to TrainGeek08 for taking the time to answer those burning questions for us :).

    Conclusion:
Anyway, this is it for 2025, hope you enjoyed this one (and all of them throughout this year), put your thoughts below as ever .

The Roadmap will be receiving a make-over into the new year, so this is the last Roadmap in its current form :(. Don't worry, they will make a return in 2026!

From me, TrainGeek08, I'll see you soon for another CC release announcement, enjoy the rest of your day and goodbye ;).
