I'm going to do a monthly development insight into one mod I release within the current month (e.g May for this one) whether it has released or not to explain what goes on behind-the-scenes May's 'Development Insight': Case Study: (TG08) HectorRail (BR 185) We chat to the OP of this thread, TrainGeek08 to talk about the livery (below) '(TG08) HectorRail (BR 185)' that will release tomorrow How long did this livery take to create? TrainGeek08: "This livery took around 1 hour and 30 minutes, similar to how long 66708 took (if you remember from the last CC Roadmap), like I said last month, the more time I take, the better the livery will be." Do you think the community will appreciate your livery? TG08: "Depends on if they perceive the livery as detailed enough to subscribe to, personally I hope it gets a similar reception as the MRCE Vectron if I'm being honest." Does this locomotive have a nameplate? TG08: "No, however in real life, the BR 241 locomotives HectorRail use are named after characters from Star Wars and this one (241.004) is named after the robot R2D2 and is depicted on the reskin on the cab ends and cab sides under the locomotive number." Will you make more HectorRail liveries in the future? TG08: "I do not have any more HectorRail liveries planned for the rest of 2024, however if this livery does well enough, I might consider making the livery on a different locomotive in 2025." What is your opinion on detailed liveries and making sure people take their time (during the creation process) to get the best out of their livery? TG08: "I think that detailed liveries do better on Creator's Club than rather basic liveries. I have experienced this myself where liveries that are detailed do have more subscribers than those with only a few layers on them. People can spend as much time as they want, I know many creators take days to make sure their liveries are spot-on and it seems to work for them so taking your time when creating a livery will make people look at the livery and say "That looks fantastic, I'll subscribe to that." which will make it more popular in the long run but as I said, people can spend as much time as they like creating liveries, whether it is detailed or basic." Would you expect to see this in future scenarios, either by yourself or by fellow creators? TG08: "Again, it all comes back to the point I made earlier, if the community feel that the livery is detailed enough and hence popular, it has a higher chance of being featured in another creators' scenario." Thanks to TrainGeek08 for taking the time to answer those burning questions for us Conclusion: Anyway, this is it then, hope you enjoyed this one, put your thoughts below, from me, TrainGeek08, I'll see you soon for another CC release announcement, enjoy the rest of your day and goodbye Release date changes: N/A
That HectorRail livery looks great! I will definitely subscribe. I didn't know about the Star Wars characters, that's funny Thanks for sharing your work.
Yeah, likewise I didn't know about how they were named until I looked at the reference images No worries at all
