    August's 'Development Insight':

I'm going to do a monthly development insight into one mod I release within the current month (e.g. August for this one) whether it has released or not to explain what goes on behind-the-scenes ;).

    This Month's Case Study: (TG08) 47077 'NORTH STAR' (47)

We chat to the OP of this thread, TrainGeek08, to talk about the livery (below) '(TG08) 47077 'NORTH STAR' (47)', that will release in a few days :).

Did you plan to include every single detail as seen on the real locomotive or not?

TrainGeek08: "I always strive for authenticity with my liveries, so the obvious answer is; yes!"

Did you enjoy making this livery?
TG08: "Yes, I enjoyed making this livery. I haven't made a BR Blue livery in a while, so thought; why not make another one?"

We saw that you commemorated this livery to a fellow community member, why is this?
TG08: "Yes, I commemorated this livery to PinzaDave, as he makes BR content, and had recently reached the milestone of 1,000 uploads on CC. He is also well on his way towards 1,000 liveries uploaded. So I wanted to commemorate this livery to a veteran of the community."

Is there any details on the livery that you enjoyed recreating the most?
TG08: "Oh yes! I enjoyed recreating the data table on the locomotive as it includes vital information about 47077, for example its weight (in tonnes), its brake force (in tonnes) etc."

How long did it take to make this livery?

TG08: "It took me 1 hour and 30 minutes to make this livery. It goes to show that I took my time on maximising every detail that I could recreate on the locomotive."

How well do you think it will do on CC?

TG08: "We'll see, I don't want to curse this livery by saying it will do well, as then it will do poorly on CC..."

Thanks to TrainGeek08 for taking the time to answer those burning questions for us :).

WCML South Scenario Pack 1 Debrief:

So, I put a post up on my Releases and Updates thread discussing how well the WCML South Scenario Pack 1 had done and I mentioned this line; "I might do a section within the Creators Club Roadmap next week where I debrief the scenario pack, and look at areas that I have found (whether it is positive or negative) that I could take into creating more scenario packs in the future."

Well, this is that segment of the Roadmap...

    Positives:
    • The approach to release one scenario per day instead of all of them at once: I think this helped as it could've kept players guessing about what scenario was next (if they don't know of my thread on the forums).
    • Subscriber counts: In general, they are way better than the 'Farewell Budd-y' pack I released back in March. It makes me feel proud that my hard work on this pack has paid off and has allowed players to be teleported back in time to how the WCML was back in 2013.
    • 1R09 WVH-EUS (390): This has joined my top 5 mods of the year within a week of release! Many factors have contributed to why this scenario is really popular; time of day (sunrise), AI consistency and the gradual approach into the adverse signals from the Harrow and Wealdstone area all the way into Euston itself.

    Negatives:
    • Inconsistent release times: The reason why 1S26 EUS-GLC isn't doing well is because I released the scenario earlier (on that day) than all of the rest of the scenarios in the pack. Going forwards, I want to make the release time more consistent, because then it would give all scenarios a fair chance of being played and gain subscribers on Creators Club.
    • Lack of difficulty: The scenarios were designed with timetable authenticity in mind, but not difficulty. Could I include 'dynamic events' within the scenario to add a bit of a story to the scenario? (more on that in the next segment) However, the flip side of this is that a lack of difficulty could be why my scenarios in that pack have done better. Something for me to weigh up behind-the-scenes I suppose.

Do I include 'dynamic events' i.e. broken down trains or delays into my scenarios?
In this last segment, I want to elaborate more on the point regarding 'dynamic events', and whether they would be welcomed into my scenarios. Before I do, I want to make clear that if I end up doing 'dynamic events', then it will not be in every scenario, but they may be included in every one in three scenarios for example.

Signal failures, broken down trains, points failures you name it. They occur everyday somewhere on the GB rail network, so why not 'include' it within a scenario (or pretend to)?

    Here's an example:

There is a signal failure at Burnage on the Styal Line disrupting trains travelling from Manchester Airport towards Manchester Piccadilly. You will drive a service from Manchester Airport towards Piccadilly, and be delayed as multiple trains ahead of you are awaiting this signal failure to be resolved as well as you (as the player). It allows for the scenario to have a 'storyline'/'narrative' attached to it, like how DTG's official scenarios have a narrative that it follows.

So, I repeat my initial question; do I include 'dynamic events' i.e. broken down trains or delays into my scenarios or not?

    Conclusion:
Anyway, this is it then, hope you enjoyed this one, put your thoughts below. From me, TrainGeek08, I'll see you soon for another CC release announcement, enjoy the rest of your day and goodbye ;).

It takes me several hours just to produce a data panel. :o I'm not sure I'd call it my favourite thing to do either. :(

It was a pain to get right, as it took me probably half an hour to line the text up properly. I don’t normally do it though, but I might need to start doing it more often, even if it takes a long time to make :).

If you're doing BR Blue, you need one for every class of loco. And don't forget, if you do other liveries, eg, Railfreight, the lettering is often Black rather than White! RTC locos have Red data panels! :o

Yeah. I'll keep that in mind if I end up doing more liveries in the future i.e. Railfreight grey or BR Blue :).
