Occasionally when I pull into New York Penn Station while running NJ Transit on the NEC route, i’ll turn behind me and see another NJT and an Amtrak train literaly bumper to bumper within just a car length or two of each other in the North River Tunnel.

I find this to be extremely confusing, I know that ACSES/ATCS can enable trains to run quite close to each other, but this seems very unrealistic and dangerous to me, does anyone who has more knowledge of how these signaling systems work in real life have any knowledge on whether or not this makes sense and can occur?

In real life trains can be in the same block, however, in TSW the AI trains don't follow the signal rules, so they catch up to you more than would happen irl.
