When I was younger I used to really enjoy travelling around the country and photographing trains. Obviously as I got older, life tends to get in the way with other commitments, health wise and the general ever increasing costs. That being said, I’m looking into hopefully returning back to it, as I love seeing new places as well as the variety of traction that runs on the railway (Quite possibly not so much ‘Variety’ now, though.) My question is this: Does anyone / Can anyone recommend any stations which are considered ‘hotspots’ for freight services? I’m open to all suggestions - My only limitations are that they must: Be located in England Be accessible via public transport, or within short walking distance from a public transport link. Be open and free for public access (No private property such as fields etc.) I have searched through other internet forums but the majority of posts are dating back almost a decade, and a fair bit has changed since then.
too bad England only I could give you some tips for safe and legal trainspotting in Bratislava and many locations in Vienna (which has TONS of cool spots to see both passenger, freight and even maintenance traffic/rolling stock)... so, if you happen to come to Bratislava or Vienna as a tourist, I can give you great recommendations for this cheers
I would highly say Westbury Station, as it has a massive goods / industrial yard You can get there via GWR or SWR!
