About The Trans-Australian Railway, opened in 1917, runs from Port Augusta in South Australia to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, crossing the Nullarbor Plain in the process. As the only rail freight corridor between Western Australia and the eastern states, the line is economically and strategically important. The railway includes the world's longest section of completely straight track. The length of the line, as constructed, was 1051.73 mi (1692.60 km) The only companies that operate across the entire length are Pacific National and SCT, One rail use parts of this line as well, Aurizon formally operated services on this line aswell. The Ghan and The indian pacific do both particularly or fully run over this line Rollingstock LDP Class, SCT Class, GWA Class (Downer EDI Rail GT46C ACe) (mainstay) Builder: EDI rail/ Downer Rail, Progress rail Total Produced: 93 Years Built: 2007 - Current Prime mover: EMD 16-710G3C-ES Power output: 4,300 hp (3,207 kW) net NR Class (mainstay) Builder: A Goninan & Co (UGL) Total Produced: 120 Years Built: 1996 - 1998 Prime mover: GE 7FDL-16 Power output: 3,000 kW (4,000 hp) CF Class (UGL Rail C44aci) Builder: UGL Total Produced: 204 Years Built: 2008 - Current Prime mover: GE 7FDL-16 Power output: 4,356 hp (3,248 kW) net AL Class Builder: Clyde Engineering Total Produced: 8 Years Built: 1994 Prime mover: EMD16-645E3, EMD 16-645E3/C Power output: 2,237 kW (3,000 hp), 2,460 kW (3,300 hp)
Hmmm… try picking a 60 or 70 mile section which is more likely what you would get. And don’t misunderstand, any Australian route would be great in TSW but seems unlikely any would pass the DTG “LAMPOIL” process when it comes to evaluating lucrative DLC.
