I'm getting back into the Train Sim Classic scene and I'm looking for any US transitional era content. I'm aware of the RWA and Golden Age of Railroading sites. Are there any new content sites I should be aware of? My main interest is of North Eastern US railroads. Note: Web site mods should go through the 3rd Party site thread and remove the bad web links that are no longer working. There seems to be a lot of them.
If by transitional era you mean steam/diesel overlap: Obviously Steam -- Tennessee Pass was just released amongst other things RWA -- RW&A Lakeside and Cascadia (payware), Pennsylvania Steam, Maine Marine (freeware) and lots of other old-time routes Steam Workshop -- backdated versions of Hi-Line and Marias Pass (not NE, but older) https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/ -- has a lot of good mods including the work in progress Illinois Central: Iroquois Prairielands https://www.dsgddr.com.br/ -- awesome collection of freeware steamies https://alpenfreight.wordpress.com/portfolio/sherman-hill-vintage/ -- again not NE, but backdated Sherman Hill (don't have all the reqs yet though) https://www.facebook.com/groups/NECSimDevelop -- not transitional era, but Northeast Corridor stuff https://www.machine-rail.com/ -- for some nice payware steam locos https://www.dieselworkshop.net/ -- for older payware diesels (i.e. Baldwin Pacifics, MLW420, ALCO RS-3, ALCO C424) https://www.nyctarailfan.com/frtscmodifications -- FanRailer's mods for steam locos There are obviously others and especially digging through the wealth of stuff on RWA to find hidden gems. Good Luck.
Doesn't need backdating - it's set in the 50s. Here's a link to all the DLC for it - ignore the TSW versions. https://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=Horseshoe+curve
Even thought the Horseshoe curve is old, I use it for the base textures and track. I figure it's in the right area, era and it's lower poly content makes for a good base for any route I may create.
