After having spent a decent amount of time on the Cardiff City route in the timetable mode, I thought I'd give one of the scenarios a try. My god, I've never been more bored playing this game. I've never been one of those people who sees the point of riding as a passenger in TSW (especially in this case as I live within an hour of the route depicted), but what is even the point of playing if you're not gonna actually drive a train? I don't mind the premise of going from station to station changing signs, but what is the actual reason for not driving the train in this scenario? I spent more time in this scenario scrolling through Reddit than I did actually playing it.
But even the conductor mode isn't that much fun. I tried a TfW 153 conductor servicr and got bored fairly quickly
Sounds pretty boring, but Idk i feel like scenarios are the right place for experimentation like this. Not every experiment will be successful. Back to the drawing board lol
I did it once for completeness. I was so frigging bored. I just don't get the point of it especially because the signs were so random. I get wanting to do Welsh translations and what certain words mean but that could have been a collectable task instead.
TSW is a broad church, personally I’ve zero interest in conductor mode or riding as a passenger, but there’s clearly a section of the community who enjoy conductor mode who might like scenarios like this as well. All said and done I can’t remember the last time I actually completed a scenario, I now just stick with service mode as there’s far less walking and talking and more driving then in scenarios
I can’t imagine where every scenario would be everyone’s cup of tea. It might have been an attempt to have people take the time to explore the stations … sort of like collectibles - a reason to take the time to smell the roses and an opportunity for the devs to highlight the details. While I didn’t mind doing this scenario since I wandered through the different stations looking in the different nooks and crannies, I agree that activity wouldn’t appeal to everyone. The scenarios I find rather boring are the “sandbox” switching where you can do whatever you want in a large yard… I am sure many like them, but I just hop off the first locomotive and run to the end position to mark it as done.
It's just a cash release to make money. Short route, cack scenarios, half assed services and all for an insane price. Was this a rivet release?
