The Traxx 2 family of trains is the locomotive with the widest distribution in TSW. The BR 146 and BR 185 variants can be found on every German route which features catenary and freight services. It is also one of the oldest locos in TSW, originally being shipped with MSB in early 2019 with TSW 1. But after over 5 years and endless implementations the age and quality of this loco are showing. Mediocre sound, missing features like train length indicator (road runner) and bad wheel slip protection. Due to the many implementations of the Traxx loco, there are also minor bugs and faults between the individual versions like door reminder announcements heard in the BR 185, faulty headlights, missing features like LZB, etc. Therefore, I think it’s time to remaster the Traxx 2 and bring quality and consistency across the fleet. As seen with the Vectron, DTG is now capable of making a faithful representation of a modern and highly automated locomotive, which the Traxx 2 is as well. As I hope this remaster will be a free update to the existing locomotives, there are two possible options I think are suitable for financing this Remaster: 1. It could be delivered with a new route which therefore doesn’t include a new loco. Due to the lack of an included new loco time and money usually spend there can be reallocated to the remaster. You won’t need to buy the route to get the remaster. 2. Either Route or Loco DLC including the Traxx 2 Evolution (BR 186). This version of the Traxx is a modernised version of the Traxx 2 included in the game. It mainly differs in the outer body structure and engine room layout (which is irrelevant, as is probably won’t be modelled). Also, the driver's desk and controls differ from the original Traxx 2 (comparison pictures below). Whilst these things must be remodelled, sounds, displays and general functions are shared between the Original and Evolution platforms. As before, you won’t need to obtain the Traxx 2 Evolution to get the update for the original versions. Time saved in development of the Evolution platform by reusing assets from the original model can be used to remaster there. With either one of these options I think a remaster is doable and something DTG should consider, especially as it seems that DTG is now a little more focused on older content and support newer DLCs for longer. It would be a real treat for the German community, addon hoarders and a good preparation if TSW should expand into more countries in Europe, as the Traxx 2 can be found in almost every country. If you’ve got any additional suggestions to my Remaster plan or just want to share your thoughts, I am happy to answer you back. Cheers.
