Just booted up TSW4 after a 96-hour hiatus, and I must say, the performance improvements post-10/31 patch are quite literally game-changing! The gameplay is now fluid and enjoyable, and overall TSW4 feels as if it is finally close to living up to its full potential!! New York Trenton is a HUGE beneficiary here - the stuttering, both micro and macro, is now virtually non-existent; I completed three Amtrak runs and it was the most enjoyable experience I've had thus far on this stretch of the Northeast Corridor. The combination of the massive performance improvement and the robust timetable have brought New York Trenton from being a near-unplayable mess to a genuinely pleasurable route that I foresee ranking in my top-3 routes. Very, very well done, Team DTG! Thank you for working hard to effect these changes - they are incredibly well-received and implemented, and have reignited my love of the game. Keep up the great work - if these sorts of dramatic improvements are a harbinger of what's to come, I'm thrilled to see what comes next!!
Ditto on every single point mentioned! I wonder exactly what was changed/fine-tuned at the core to make this happen. I'm elated that I can finally fully explore and enjoy the updated NYT timetable.
I missed this thread, and so far haven't installed the update. All I've seen is that it was broken in some way... But if this is true, and big performance improvements have been implemented across the content, then that is a major breakthrough that deserves to be lauded. I'm looking forward to checking this out. Can anyone else corroborate performance enhancement?
Sounds like NYT (which I don’t own) is much better but I haven’t seen a change in anything I’ve got. It ran fine before and still runs fine if that’s any help.
But not on playstation all of the British routes are unplayable/they crash after a minute of playing them.
Seems like an typical PS issue https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...-update-notes-31st-october.75714/#post-744676
I fired up ECML and the stuttering was worse after the update (even a couple of long pauses which I never had before), not sure if this is because it's a first run after the update but will go for another spin tomorrow and see if stuttering improves on the second run. Update: Had a second spin tonight and it was much smoother, pauses had gone and only the odd minor stutter, which gladly had no sound cut outs! I can put up with minor stutters but not when you get sound cut outs
I have not seen any improvement other than game used 5GB RAM upon loading menu and now memory is cleaned after launch, but it gets filled again by a similar amount short after loading any route anyway. Maybe there were more changes in exe file which are not in changelog but definitelly all DLCs files remained unchanged. Only TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor.pak was updated, which should contain the TSW4 native content itself. Most likely the benefits you see are the result of using already compiled shaders during your previous runs or just using a service where less AI is scheduled. The double deck coaches for instance have an insane hitching effect after every single coach passes next to player. Running the route without traffic or with just few trains (very early or late services) results in very few hitching for instance. Cheers
