PlayStation Trigger Button Resposiveness

I don’t know if it is my PS4 Controller, (though I doubt it given what I’m about to say), but often when cycling the throttle or brake I find that although I’ve pressed the relevant trigger and the game has made a sound as if my pressing the trigger has activated something, the game hasn’t responded.

For example, on Bakerloo line, the throttle/brake handle makes a distinctive sound when cycling from shunt, series, parallel etc and back again. Sometimes when I press R2 for example to go quicker, the button is pressed on the controller, the distinctive sound of the handle is heard in the game, but the throttle position hasn’t advanced. So audibly I think I’ve advanced the throttle but actually, I haven’t. This is more of an issue when braking, as I think I’ve moved the handle into the appropriate brake position, had the audible response in the game, but the brake position I wanted hasn’t engaged and I overrun the platform.

Has anyone else noticed this? It’s more noticeable when cycling through the throttle/brake levels quickly and it’s not limited to Bakerloo line either.

This is an issue (or feature?) with notched controls. You need to have pressed the trigger for a certain period of time for the lever to reach the next notch. If you don’t hold it long enough it springs back to the last position but with a clunk. It’s a good idea to watch the actual control to see how long these trigger presses need to be. Not an easy thing to do when you are looking at the track and platform etc. It seems to be linked to the distance between notches on the physical control and some controls don’t have evenly spaced notches making it quite tricky and somewhat annoying too.
