I am going through the career scenarios. I am working on "S Bahn in Spring". After going through 7 task, stopping and going at the stops, on this step I disengaged the brakes and applied power and nothing happens. I saved it so I get out, go back in and still stuck at the station. Got of the scenario, and cleared the cache, went back in, and the train won't go. I am stumped. I know what I am doing obviously since I got this far. Is it a bug or am I missing something?
So you mean the TRAIN in the Scenario stopped rather than the entire TS CLASSIC 2024 - which is how it reads.
What route? What train? Have you tried putting the reverser into neutral then back to forward? Are you trying to move with the doors open and therefore traction locked? Has the signalling safety system or SIFA activated? Have you tried a different scenario on the same route with the same train? If you want people to help and maybe run the scenario themselves to test, you need to provide more information.
Maybe it's a new player who is under the impression that everybody had the same content installed and would therefore know the scenario or route.
Thank you for all the replies! As I mentioned the Train Simulator Classic 2024 scenario is "S Bahn in Spring". The route is "Bahnstrecke Riesa-Dresden" with the DB BR146. That I didn't include. The train won't move the game itself is fine. In other words I can do everything else fine. The doors are closed (I moved earlier and it let me know I moved with the doors open). I understand there a tons of versions, that is why I originally specified my version, with the 4 pack including the NE corridor. Going through the forums I got an appreciation of the different versions. The controls move, the AI people are walk, the lights go on and off. The only additional information I can give is I got a "Passenger Discomfort" error at the next station from my resume position. Sorry for the late reply. I thought I would get notified when there was an answer. Need to find that option and turn it on I guess. Thanks again - if you have anymore ideas I would appreciate it!
People moving is nothing to do with the train not working - neither is the lights being on or not. Are the brakes fully released? Is the loco in Forward? Is the Main Circuit Breaker set? Is the AFB (Cruise Control) Set to a speed above 0kph?
Riesa-Dresden it is, ok. How much experience do you have in TS? Sometimes very simple things can be overlooked. I'm just starting the scenario and giving you a step by step quickstart. Press T to let the passengers board. Enable PZB if you wish to (Ctrl+NumEnter), SIFA (Shift+NumEnter) Ctrl+Shift+5 / 6 to cycle destination display Press W to put the reverser in Forward. Turn on the headlights with H and instrument lights with I, turn off the cab light with L When boarding is complete, release the trainbrake with [ Set the AFB speed with Y and C (you can drive without it as you wish) Slowly apply throttle and the train will move. Credits to AP for their clouds pack for ever changing amazing skies... Can you post a screenshot - maybe you have accidentally opened the loco's master control breaker or lowered the pantograph? Generally, check the loco. Pantograph raised? Circuit breaker closed? Brakes released - also handbrake (might have accidentally hit the \ key - use the coupling hud to check)?
I will try from the beginning again and try some of the suggestions. No I don't use auto throttle yet. Especially this one because you have to race between stations. Still learning the keyboard too but I think I had most of it. I will post screen shot next time. Let me see what happens.
Yes, I had no trouble and I suspect you have accidentally hit a key to lower the panto or apply the handbrakes.
Ok I am uploading some pictures. This is what happened when I ran it again. Between steps 10 and 11 I leave the station, the train speeds up, then it is like it auto throttles down but it starts going too slow for the scenario. When I finally get to the station, I open the doors, then doors close and it won't move. The first picture is the scenario I am running, the second is a picture still at the station full throttle and last is the "results" of my drive. If there is something else I should send, let me know. (BTW I am using only keyboard commands of throttle and braking and such, I have no controller or anything). Also I think this happened a couple times during training.
Yes, you will not get the score. That is something that can't be easily fixed, as it's related to DTG's servers / Steam database verifying official Career score. DTG have simply not submitted the correct data to Steam - maybe they were reworking a scenario last minute. There's a few Career scenarios not rewarding points properly (which honestly many of us do not care about, and the HighScore list is abandoned for years now, only working for older DLC. It was not really useful, having thousands of players on top with the same 1000 points score). It seems to me you have accidentally opened the Main Circuit breaker (Z key) in your second shot. The left display shows a small red rectangle beneath the overhead voltage bar, indicating you have turned off the main breaker. Click the Green Key in the HUD. When the breaker is off, no current from the overhead lines will be connected to the loco. "Hauptschalter aus" red indicator is on (behind the HUD)
I bet that is it! One thing I suffer from is some bad hands (which is why I use the keyboard) and I can easily see how I could do that when trying to accelerate or decelerating. I will try again and let you know. I am doing the career scenarios only because I am learning, they provide a good basis to learn the aspects of the game. I am not interested in high scores, just doing things right.
Just to let everyone who helped, I figured it out. It wasn't the "Z" key. But my finger has been accidently slipping off the ";" key and pressing the "." which engaged dynamic braking. Still not sure where that would be indicated but that is what I found with trial and error. Thank you again for your kind assistance!
These buttons on the F4 HUD switch between the different brake types, Loco, Train and Dynamic, dynamic is the bottom one in this image, some locos only show the one button not three like this screenshot in those cases just press the single button to switch between available brake modes.
