When Train Sim Classic 2025 releases someday, will we, the owners of TSC 2024 get the routes that come with it for free or we just stay with the routes that we have and have to buy the other routes? Thank you for your responses.
You'll get the core update for free, and any routes you don't already have, you'll have to purchase. At least that's how it has used to be.
I wish they would go back to just calling it Train Simulator Classic and sell the update as the 2025 update. However l don’t think there will be any updates this year, as releases have been far and few between!
^ + For the time being don't count on TSC 2025. Yearly releases were based on a steady flow of DTG-produced content, and currently there is none. It has been superseded by the subscription. If you like TSC 2024 routes, get it - during some sale if you care about that. If you don't have TSC yet and you wish to optimize your purchase, hoping for a better pack, you can get the core license by obtaining certain routes / packs. Given that development news has gone completely silent and the last patch was a long time ago. I’d be surprised if there is a TSC release this year. Everything released recently has been 3rd party, so they don’t really have anything new to bundle. I hope I’m wrong, but I think DTG are quietly letting TSC wind down. The good news is that at least 3rd parties are still actively developing for TSC. I’ve bought stuff from TS Rolling Stock, AP and ATS recently that has been excellent, even if it was a little expensive.
For every year that TSC has been released everyone will get the CORE update to the latest version. No routes are included with the Core Update. If you want All of the included routes you could either buy the Latest release or buy them individually.
Dovetail are now owned by Focus Entertainment, who probably make commercial decisions against other of their products. If they say that no spending is to be made on TS Classic, all development stops. Dead. John
