Competition Rules: Limit is 2 screenshots per person; 1 screenshot per post. Include in your post the route the screenshot was taken on as well as the name of the train (if applicable). Screenshots must be in a 16:9 resolution, at least 1920x1080 pixels. Screenshots must fit the theme of the week, as stated at the beginning of this post. In order to qualify for the competition, screenshots must be taken from products published by Dovetail Games that are currently on sale. I don't know what your screen aspect ratio is, but you might want to check against the rule in red.
A southbound waits for the ECML to be reopened after a flock of sheep escaped onto the tracks Route: East Coast Main Line London-Peterborough Locomotive: Class 91
A landslide at San Clemente has brought all trains on the Surfline to a stop Route: Pacific Surfliner LA - San Diego Locomotive: F59PHI
So with 24hrs to go we have 4 entries for this week's comp, 2 of which will be disqualified for being in the wrong aspect ratio as per the rules, which currently leaves the sole contributor, and most likely the winner as ETTG. Oh! is that the same ETTG who won last week and is yet to see their winning shot on the loading screen? I assume it is still waiting to be uploaded? It is no wonder that the vast majority of us "used to be regular" contributors have abandoned this thread en-masse. BTW nice shots ETTG, would be lovely to see them on the loading screens at some point.
I think some of the recent subjects have also discouraged entries. They exclude whole swathes of territories (e.g. subjects like Great Western, or Green Locomotives), or are odd themes that nobody will have screenshotted during normal driving, like this week's theme.
Some great Unscheduled Stop shots everyone well done, This weeks winner with sheep blocking the line on ECML is ETTG ,congratulations! Have a great week everyone. Next Weeks Contest : https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsc-screenshot-contest-july-2024-week-30.82993/
In fairness (and I know they’re voted for) but the theme is weak. “Unscheduled stop”? Come on now I didn’t really want to enter for that, it’s literally nothing.
I think "it’s literally nothing" is harsh. The sheep was an idea I had that fit the theme well and then thought what else could stop trains? The Surfline has closed several times recently for landslides which gave me the idea for that shot. Other ideas I had were floods, big snow drifts, and a train waiting for the royal train to pass. I believe all themes have their place from the ones that tell you more what to do like coastlines, to ones requiring more imagination.
its only tuesday awful quick decision shouldnt weekly mean at least give 5 work days to post and decide on a winner by later thursday early Friday
I only join when I find the theme is intreresting. I really wanted "Vintage Coaches" to win this week but have to hope that it will come back soon again. "Vans, Parcels and Post Trains" also sounds interesting to me.
This is last weeks thread (Week 29) started on Mon 15/07/24 and closed on Mon 22/07/24 The current weeks thread (Week 30) is here:- https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsc-screenshot-contest-july-2024-week-30.82993/ ETTG is still yet to see his winning shot from week 28 on the loading screens, let alone the one from this week (week 29). This competition currently is an utter shambles, Whether it be down to resource or lack of interest, I don't know, but if you are going to run a competition with a prize for winning then in my book you should honour that fact. This is the main reason I no longer compete. 17:15 on Tuesday 23/07/24 and neither of these are currently visible on the loading screens, although someone has been in and edited the loading screens to remove the WSR promotion screen.
