This is a thread aimed at German railfans. Any idea what services the G6 could do on RRO? Also, where could it sub out on?
From what I have heard is that the G6 will only get A-B services and scenarios and it wont sub in anywhere because TSG put all the effort into the model so I expect the gameplay part of it to be ... less pleasing.
About this: Months ago in a different, German forum, Maik Goltz was asked if the timetable was going to be similar to the RSN Br 363 one and he replied that such a timetable is an enormous amount of work and more than TSG can deliver with the G6. Furthermore, the specific variant of the G6 chosen is the one configured for last mile services as opposed to real shunting, further hinting at more A-B services rather than complicated shunting moves.
Well, that is the confirmation that gameplaywise we cant expect much from the G6. TSG basically dont want to put the effort into a decent service mode and I really hope that we at least get some decent scenarios. If not, then DTG really should revise its 3rd Party program. Not putting effort in elemental parts of a DLC is just inacceptable.
This is the issue though isn’t it, you can either have all the effort put into a loco, or all the effort put into its setting, alternatively you can strike the 50/50 and have mediocrity, but this forum is a testament to the fact that we want close to perfection on all fronts. For £11.49 I think we will get the usual TSG loco quality, which is far above what DTG deliver a lot of the time, and is much more superior to rivets or skyhooks offerings. I think that along with much of the other German content we will see some layering going on in the future. TSG (or at least Maik) are responsible for some of the most well produced locos in TSW, it’s really as good as it gets, and a long way off “don’t want to put the effort in”.
Well, you can create the best model but what does it matter when you cant really do something with it. And dont argue with "scneario planner". You cant do proper scenarios with it. And I highly doubt that we will get any layers.
This thread is becoming absolutely pointless. Complaining about the service mode of the G6 when there is absolutely no information about it? That is really next level. Could you at least wait until there is actual information provided and then start these pointless rants?
After this article, I think we can all put down our tinfoil hats and continue looking forward to TSG's fantastic work
Typical DTG forums moaning about an aspect of a DLC before it's even been released. Once again I really wonder why anyone bothers releasing anything for TSW. Parts of the player group are simply toxic and will find fault with anything, if it's not the sounds it's the physics, if it's not the physics it's the service mode. Tiresome and tedious
That's the deal when you are "doing in trains". A aspect i had to learn the hard way too At some point you get used to it. It sounds often worse than it really is. And yes, as a developer you get some bad motivation and moods out of those discussions some times. But at least they do not care much. As long as the majority of your players is happy, all is fine. You can't please everyone.
Yeah right. Don't forget all the people who love the product. Mostly those who shout the loudest are the people who will NEVER be pleased. But the majority calmly enjoys a product and invests time into playing with the loco instead of screaming around and forums. I am very much looking forward to your DLC (especially the 420).
Well I for one am looking forward to this DLC and the challenging driving it promises. Out of interest will this be RailDriver enabled or are the controls just too complex for a raildriver to cope with?
I’m interested in seeing this one. Model looks very well made. Please don’t do a rivet on us with the sounds Maik. I hope there will be some things crop up on other routes with it. I’m not a fan of designing scenarios
im going to speculate wildly, unashamedly and with an ability to be as far from the truth as possible. The special service is pulling a Santa train or towing our first steam train
Just one question for Maik, have G6 G-P-R brake selector or this new feature was beyond development scope? (possible future upgrade or it depends on RRO update for DTG side?)
No, unfortunately not implemented yet. Was not there when i have created the simulation for air brakes and on top there is no switch/lever available for it. The levers are somewhere in the engine compartment and we can't model that out at all. The actual brake timings are set to P. And that is ok i would say. The wagons have some similar settings on it, or maybe something between P and G.
Just one comment completely off-topic: Maik, your participation here is highly appreciated, it is so nice to get these information first hand from you (rather than from people speculating around, or things being added to a list and we never get the answers)! This makes a really good impression!
Well that's just the avarage fandom of pretty much every game that exsists. Go to any other forum dedicated to a game, be it another simulator, racing game or some multiplayer game. The playerase will constantly moan. Why? Because they love the game and want it to be better. if they wouldn't care about the game, they wouldn't be in the forum to begin with. And those who are satisfied, will not bother raising their voices, because why would they? So sadly, the majority of the voices will always sounds negative. But that's just the way it is, and at the end, what keep pushing things for the better. Being a dev must not be easy, that's for sure. But back to the G6, does it add any layers or substitution to the Rurh-Sieg Nord?
Sorry for the O/T. It's just the nature of the "hardcore" community of a simulator, you'll find similar people in the MSFS forum, in the DCS forum, etc... theoretically a perfect simulator would be a 1:1 representation of reality, however it won't be, and this may annoy some people with "unreasonable expectations". I also think that the small and niche nature of the community leads to the negative voices being heard much more than usual (saying to a friend of yours Apple/Samsung/Wathever is a bad company that make bad products is just a drop in the ocean, unlike here) giving this feeling of an overly-toxic and awful community, compounded by the fact that usually only upset people will speak, while the majority will "happily stay silent", and the harder it is to express your positive opinion, the less likely you will do it, while if you are unhappy you are motivated by frustration, or hope that the devs will listen to you, and you will go great lengths to make sure you are heard. I can see why the majority of people here in this forum are not the happiest, and most cheerful. For example, I am having a great time in FH5, however I have reported a really annoying bug in the Forza forum, just because I feel like it's the most direct way to receive help (in case I am doing something wrong or there is a workaround), or to get the devs to fix it, and why would I say how much I am enjoying the game? At that moment I was pretty frustrated and it really doesn't add anything to a bug report. However I have to say, especially after the latest releases (IMO featuring some of the worst ever content for this game) the general "morale" of the people here seems a bit lower than usual, and for good reason, but (no offence to the OP) I have to agree this post is a just baseless negative speculation, which will never bring anything positive, I could see it for Rivet's (although I didn't like these threads either), but TSG has never disappointed so far, so I can't see why the OP would be so negative about a product we don't even know anything about yet.
That's going a bit far, I think: while Cornwall was a letdown, BML is one of the best routes ever released for TSW, or even by DTG's trains games as a whole; and DRA is arguably the best German route. And before that were Cathcart and Clinchfield, and the BR 101. While RH has certainly had technical issues, especially for Playstation, that isn't an indictment of "content", which lately has been quite good. Even Boston isn't bad, or won't be if they ever get the signaling fixed.
I was strictly talking about the BR187 and the Class 150, the Class 150 being the worst train in the game currently, and the BR187 being just a bit better than the old, broken Traxxes (broken in the sense they were worse in TSW2 compared to TSW2020). Obviously that's my opinion of course. You are absolutely right about BML and BRD, those are fantastic, and I have a pretty positive opinion about the Class 313 as well. NEC is more on the meh side, but it's decent
But both of those are third-party releases. DTG's stuff this year has been pretty good (aside from NEC signaling). If I would call any of their recent routes 'meh' it would be Hamburg-Lubeck.
I think they were talking about the releases in general and the last batch were 3rd party releases. While its good to see more of them, the quality needs to catch up. As you say the recent DTG releases have been of higher quality.
Where did I mention I was talking about DTG's products specifically in my post? This is a post under a third party release after all.
Well, ironically that one got better THANKS to the negative uproar, otherwise who knows if Meißen would return.
Being upset over something which isn't even released and with no actual facts or evidence on what is or isn't right/included isn't being hardcore. If people have genuine grips about a product that is released then that's understandable and they should be able to air their frustrations. Completely kicking off over the possible lack of scenarios of a DLC that hasn't been released and with no actual details of what is/isnt included is ridiculous and childlike and achieves nothing.
