The British Rail Class 345 Aventra is a type of electric multiple unit passenger train built by Bombardier Transportation as part of the Crossrail project for use on the Elizabeth line. Seventy nine-car trains have been manufactured at a cost of over £1 billion, with each train able to carry 1,500 passengers. Each Elizabeth line train will draw power in the tunnels from the rigid overhead aluminium alloy conductor bar which houses copper contact wire. These bars are installed in 10-metre sections and zig zag to stop wear in one particular location on the train. The class 345 runs on this Line aswell so maybe we could have it.
The 345 wouldnt work on GWE as the route is set 2015-2017, which is an issue as the 345 did not run on the GWML until 2018-2019.
The route is set in 2015, long before the 345s appeared, Through I suppose Crossrail itself could be a route.
Just the slight problem of running an electric train on a route set before it was fully electrified...
I would rather see a Class 165 than this elecrotrash. Or better still a Class 117 for the Legends pack.
So you'd be happy with running 345s on a route that doesn't have wires the whole length? There's a reason the "It's not in the era of the route rubbish" is being mentioned by myself. Think about it logically.
The solution might be Class 345 387/2 services to Hayes and Harlington then back to Paddington. Needs the 2022 GWML version to work properly
