Downloading my DLC now on PS5. Why on earth is it trying to download every version of everything, all the way back to TSW 2.
Systems a mess, I had the same issue. There’s probably a way to change your settings from ‘buy & download’ to just buy. Then you can go into “manage game content” and just download the correct version. (I know I say buy, they’ll still be free but you still need to go through the ‘transaction’ process to claim the product licence).
The best way to download DLC on PS is to claim all your old content FIRST, delete all the downloads it makes if it does and then download TSW4 base game. It will give you a list of DLC to install (which you already claimed) and it will then ONLY download those DLC which match your system and game. Otherwise you may get both PS4 and PS5 on PS5 or get DLC for TSW2/3 downloading as well. At least this is how it works on my PS5, your experience may be different on PS4 or using the App/Web. Unclaimed content will show as "Free" and Claimed content will show as "Purchased" or "Download/Select Version" something like that.
Indeed very annoying that when you click on download it dowloads up to 5 versions of the same thing (TWS2 / TSW3-PS4 / TSW3-PS5 / TSW4-PS4 / TSW4-PS5) The way I'm handling it is doing it one item at a time. Click on download, go directly to the download manager and push options button. Select pause all. Then select the download version you want, resume that and delete the other version dowloads. It's a hassle, but this way I don't waste precious storage space and download time. Don't know if this is a DTG thing or a Sony thing... I suspect the problem lies with Sony.
Trust me if you do it my way it is relatively painless and quick, at least as quick as your download speed will allow. Just claim all your 'free' stuff (and cancel any download it does, you can just do this all at once after you're done claiming) before you download TSW4 and then when you download TSW4 it will pop up a list of DLC you claimed to add. Took me maybe 2 hours with 1.5 hours just being downloading and waiting, and I am only missing a handful of DLC that I haven't yet purchased. This is the method I used on PS5, PS4 I don't know. Unfortunately this way only works from a fresh install, and I agree the claim then remove the unwanted downloads routine gets tiresome fast, and as soon as I started I knew I was bound to make a mistake somewhere so I just let the system figure it out. I'm hoping this helps at least someone avoid the headache some users are facing
I ended up setting a different large game downloading, then 'purchased' all the TS4 content, then deleted all the old versions that were sat in the queue - you can delete the whole stack of DLC for a single version of the game that way - then cancelled the download of the random game. But yes it would be nice if we didn't have this faff every year.
Hello everyone, We're aware of this, and it's an issue with how our products and entitlements work with the PlayStation System, sadly there's not much we can do on our end, but we understand it's frustrating when installing multiple add-ons. To echo what OnlyMe1909 has mentioned above, the best way of installing only the content you need is to select download on the add-ons you want one at a time, resume that up-to-date one and remove the other versions from the queue.
In addition to the above when you’ve downloaded everything go to storage and double check there’s no TSW3/2 content before you launch the game for the first time. Some of the downloads are very small and quick and it’s easy to miss something. I had a rouge TSW 3 download last night that had slipped in unnoticed which I spotted using the method I’ve explained.
I ended up deleting all dlc and the game and doing as simpman suggested. After all is claimed everything is ticked and downloaded when you download tsw4 It did remember settings
