Hi everyone. I have a question I have now got tsw5 on my ps5. I deleted tsw 2 and 3 as I know longer play them would i be able to delete tsw4 as I need some space on my hard drive, if I delete tsw4 will tsw5 still play with all the routes from tsw4 or does tsw4 need to stay on my ps5. Any help would be much appreciated thanks
Thank you for your quick replies. I need to check if any routes are missing as I know there is some that I haven't bought yet.
You do not need to have any TSW game installed for the routes to 'transfer'. There is an ongoing misunderstanding of how DLC licenses work in TSW. No matter the platform, when you buy a TSW DLC for one game you will get licenses for the DLC for all TSW games. The entitlements are based on the account, not the game. This is the contents of the Train Sim World 2 version of the Class 20. As you can see, the DLC is included for each game. If you buy the TSW5 version you will get the same things. This is how it works on all platforms.
That's not the case here for PS5 users Doomotron. For some unknown reason, you had to have the add-ons installed/purchased on TSW4 for TSW5 to recognise DLCs as owned and free. Even DTG themselves said that if you never owned TSW4 but had previous versions, you first had to upgrade DLCs to TSW4 versions to then get the TSW5 entitlements if you upgraded (eg you had TSW3 but picked up TSW5 for free or through one of the paid options).
Yeah, but I just wasn't sure if consoles had the Documents>My Games folder or not. I know you don't need to have it installed for entitlement, but I wasn't sure about progress. For that reason, it is safer to wait for TSW5 to be operation before uninstalling TSW4.
The PlayStation Store is the only exception to the rule for some reason. It still works the same way, but DTG couldn't (or couldn't be bothered to) set up the DLC properly. Since the OP is upgrading from TSW4, this will not matter. On both the PlayStation and Xbox, save data is never uninstalled when deleting games. It has to be removed separately.
The process to update the sim - in this case TSW4 to TSW5- but the same for previous ones on PS Store: - First install the new sim. TSW5 in this case. - Select the profile you have been using on previous TSW sim. In this case TSW4. - Then you can delete TSW4. - Go to PS Store and download all the previous DLCs you had purchased - even from the first TSW one , but... you MUST select the ones indicated as "TSW5 Compatible" version only. Of course it will take some time to download all of them, of course depending, how many you had bought!. That's all
That's correct. PlayStation is not set up for DTG's exclusive way of publishing games sharing entitlements across versions. But they found this workaround. For Steam, you don't need to have any previous version installed, as entitlements are stored in your account and transferred by Steam automatically. As soon as you made your purchase or free TSW5 upgrade, a new appmanifest file (containing game update status, list of owned DLC, status installed or not etc.) gets generated for the game which includes the new DLC appIDs you have been entitled to due to owning the previous versions of those DLC. I had removed TSW4 prior to installing TSW5. For importing profiles, only the save game folder is needed, which is not uninstalled by Steam. (They only uninstall what they have installed themselves, meaning user folders and user paks will stay when uninstalling. A common misconception is that Steam would remove mods from TSC after a verification, which is not true. That is a complex feature that TSC itself does on startup after a full verification, comparing .ap contents with loose content and checking for duplicate filenames, to reset the game files to factory state, which Tech Support needs to help.)
To provide a small correction, TSW4 does not need to be installed for progress to transfer. PlayStation consoles (and Xbox) never delete save data when a game is uninstalled.* *While I am sure that liveries are stored as save data, there is a small chance that they are kept as game data which will be deleted. I very much doubt this though.
Well I had to delete tsw4 but I had to uninstall tsw5 and reinstall it to see what routes was being put back it was then i noticed that there was at least 5 routes being installed that was tsw4 and not tsw5. So i gave up and let it just put them in it did free up a lot of space which is what is what i needed. But i did notice that when i checked just how much gigabyte tsw5 had used it showed me 525GB but it also said that some of the tsw4 routes was being shared with tsw5 it was at this point i gave up as it was confusing me and what do i do now. So i have left it with all my tsw5 routes loaded but also some tsw4 routes that are being shared with tsw5. I hope you can follow the above reply if not then sorry for the mess as i am hopeless at trying to reply to your answers.
Afaik you can ignore whether the icon says TSW4 or TSW5. If you only have TSW5 installed and a listing says it's shared with TSW4 (or TSW3) then you can/should delete it because it's for the older game and not actually used by TSW5. The remainder that isn't shared is actually for TSW5, though some of these have icons for TSW4.
Thank you for your help armus, but I was missing a couple of routes so I reinstalled them thinking they was tsw5 but one is tsw3 and the other is tsw4 so I was going to delete them but up comes this message if you unistall these, tsw5 might not work properly so I am still baffled with what to do. Unless I uninstall all the tsw4 and see if i have to buy them again for tsw5 which I can't really afford too just at the moment.
